Anonymous Playing Hardball With Ferguson - Releases Officer's Name, and More

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) —The online hacking group Anonymous has released the name of the man it believes to be the police officer who shot and killed unarmed teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., over the weekend.

In a brazen act of protest, vigilantes claiming to be members of Anonymous gave the Ferguson police department an ultimatum: Release the name or we will.

The "Operation Ferguson" group went through with its promise Thursday morning.

CNN is not disclosing his name until it can confirm he is indeed the officer who shot and killed Brown.

In its typical fashion, Anonymous has been waging a digital battle on Twitter. It started with demands for the officer's name. Then the group hacked the police department's computers and obtained audio files of police dispatches.

Anonymous reveals Ferguson police officer's name

Things are really bad in Ferguson right now, but things are about to get really, really worse.

Goodbye Free Internet?

This is playing into Washington's Hands.
Cyber Terrorism, is what they will claim, and the brought and paid for "Media Whores" will go along for the ride.

Well done Anonymous, you may have just killed the Internet. America's Anyway.

Martial law?

The governor of Missouri will reportedly relieve St. Louis County law enforcement from policing the ongoing demonstrations in the town of Ferguson, paving the way for possible state or federal intervention.

I had a feeling last night would bring some serious action today.

This is a long way from over and the shooting is just ONE question to be handled at this point.

Good on Nixon, at least for this move. About time.

I'm glad Anonymous isn't a USG front operation. Maintaining guarded optimism at this time.

I've been suggesting this tactic for over a year as an equalizer against the Fascists. Self defense is another.

I bet that's because he's gone into witness protection.

I find odd that they are pulling out the local police force.

This could get very ugly....depending on what they are planning next....as far as replacing enforcement.

I will be watching this story very closely today.

I really hope you are wrong.

It just seems odd that they would pull out the police force considering the blatant militarized force they displayed yesterday.

Very odd indeed.

This is what the internet is meant to Do...give the little guy a voice.

If it was just a citizen their name would be all over the net. But we should just lie Down and obey?

No. This MUST happen because it's been a long time coming.

Peace

People need to start using their heads instead of their emotions.

The only thing anonymous is going to archive is arming the government with more excuses to limit our rights but hey it's all good.
