Because I trust members of ATS to help find confirmation or determine it a hoax. It is all over Twitter and needs researched. That's what we do...search for truth.

Have also seen that peaceful protests are planned in honor of the slain young man, Mike Brown, in Oakland at 4 pm and DC at 7 pm.

Confirmation or additional info appreciated.

It may be the National Moment of Silence you refer to there. I cannot link to it, you'll have to google it (I checked with a mod before posting a link). I cannot link to it because it may be seen as recruitment to a cause which is against T&Cs... but I CAN tell you it exsists so you can find it on your own. Last time I checked on this it is a nationwide effort and dedicated to all victims of police brutality.

Oh my,

Thanks for finding that. Not being a full fledged cop? It may be one of the reasons that the Ferguson Police are not releasing any information.

From what I am seeing and reading I get the distinct impression that the authorities intentionally provoked the more violent outrage from the community during the first peaceful gathering back on Sunday.

I'm thinking of heading up there today.

i bet R.T covers this more than c.n.n

I expect Al Jazeera does too. I suppose it's about whether they are a media organisation that has alignment or control from the States.

Is it just me or am I the only one who sees a parallel between this and the Boston bombing?

Where militarized police squelched rights, ran rough-shod over people, and got away with it!

It would be nice, and I would dearly love to see the day, that "We the People" could protest the right thing - the thing that really bothers us and not the lie.

We the People need to protest - for the right to protest. We the People need to protest the militarization of the police. We the people need to protest invasion of privacy and loss of constitutional right. We the People need to stand up and protest for the right to have our votes counted accurately.

But it is growing more and more apparent, We the People wont ever stand up and do that. It will always be over untruths and spun stories.

It's the Whites fault!

It's the Blacks!

No, It's the police!

The true culprit is government enforced feudalistic capitalism and its affect on human psyche, our fears and the life of us all. We value money so much that we turn on one another in fears of what society has in store for us for not being able to pay up. This entire situation has to do with the value that our society places on money.

Think about it.

And the sad part is we think revenge and punishment is justice or that revenge and punishment will fix any of this.

Thanks for the reminder. I edited out the times so it could not be misconstrued as recruitment. My point was that other people are standing with Ferguson apparently, similar to the Howard Univ. Pic posted last night. Again thanks for checking.

What did capitalism have to do with a city police officer shooting an 18yr old kid in the middle of the afternoon?

There is a cause and effect there somewhere that I totally miss.

Wow! I haven't read all 44 pages, but just wow!!! I hope the National Guard gets called in to protect the citizens right to protest. I would love to see that....National Guard vs. jackbooted law enforcement thugs.

I think if they are called in they would be with the police not the protesters. If it get to the point where the guard or other military force is called in we could see this become something much bigger. As long as it stays the local area police it'll stay in the area and might die out.

ST. LOUIS (CBS St. Louis/AP) — Internet hacking group “Anonymous” released Thursday morning on Twitter the alleged name of the Ferguson police officer they claim fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown last weekend.

From what I am reading ANON leaked this name

So far as can be seen in the 20th and 21st century capitalism still needs an oppressed group to function and unfortunately in America segregation and socio-political situations have had that group as African American communities in many locales. Worse is that our capitalism has flavors of feudalism.

I'd rather not speak poorly of the kid shot, but I will make sure to say that it's not his fault (As an individual) that he is associated with a demographic that tends to receive accusation of ignorance, danger theft criminal etc. All traits resulting from the pressure from government sponsored capitalism displayed by the oppressed groups and all conditions which likely caused this officer to either fearfully or out of hate destroy the life of this teen.

A large part of the patrolling and policing of "rough" neighborhoods is just a management system to deal with those that capitalism couldn't account for.

And why do the officers continue to follow orders? Because they too fear the outcome of not having any money and being subjected to the similar inhumane conditions found in financially uncertain areas.

Capitalism has lots to do with this. And setting an officer up for firing squad or encouraging continued practice of the system we all love that produced these results in the first place, won't ever solve it.

When you want to fix a problem you address the cause, not the symptom. And I must say that the reputation of a black teen walking the street, and the actions of this officer are all just symptoms due to a greater cause.

My apologies, I should have expanded on that in my earlier post. I know it seems like a stretch to talk about feudal capitalism but hopefully I made it clear why I think it all ties in. All good feelings Wrabbit.

Can only reply to posters?

First off be safe openyourmind much respect for going. If i was closer i would be there anything like this in PA NJ NY I WILL be there. Also i am a lil upset with the Oath keepers i am a member have not heard 1 thing from them on this they will be getting a letter and if they do not act i will withdraw my membership. I agree 1000 percent the militias NEED to get there. A big thank you to all who posted updates ect. To the others that keep bring up the actions of some criminals who took advantage of the situation to act like criminals they do not reflect the PEACEFUL protesters stop lumping the 2 together. Also why were they going after the media if they knew they were not doing anything wrong? The phrase that comes to mind is if you are doing nothing wrong why worry about being filmed? Goes both ways. Its that type of thinking is why we are where we are now looking down the barrel of sniper gun pointed at non violent peaceful protesters. Stand for something or fall for anything..

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already, I'm in a bit of a rush so don't have time to read the entire thread just now but it looks like things could be about to get a little worse:

Wow.. I just read through the first half of the thread which was essentially a play by play of last nights protests. This is a sad sad day, no doubt about it. Does anyone know if there are any live feeds covering it right now?
