Very nice! I just got my guitar player into Opeth and he now agrees that they are one of the best live bands he's ever seen.

Not too many gothenburg/scandinavian death metal fans in here eh? guttural vocals took me a good couple of years to fully adjust to, but the guitar work is what attracted me to begin with. Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, Amon Amarth, to name some of the more well known examples. Something about these scandinavian bands is just incredible, not sure why. Is it just down to culture?

And my all time favorite band (seriously, these guys are the god damn epitome of metal)

These are the first two that come to mind.

And then this timeless classic.

The OP did not ask more Metal Core. He asked for Metal in general leaving the genre open to interpretation. Metal Core is just one genre of many that falls under Metal. Many people consider songs bands I would never consider metal, to be in fact metal.

Why do you start arguing like that ? From your 3 songs posted so far,Iron Maiden is the best.Judas Priest are a bunch of psychopats with different voices in almost all of their songs. For example: in Painkiller you can say that there is another band singing if you compare with NIght Crawler or Breaking The Law

There is no argument about Five Finger Fruit Punch. And what the hell are you trying to say about the Priest? Halford is always Halford.

I could've lied and posted a bunch of trve metal like Death & Carcass, but the truth is I've been on a Thin Lizzy, Faith no More, classic Priest kick lately.

That is all.

Ironic because what drives me up the wall is people pigeonholing music into subgenres that only make sense to the absolutely devoted. Im not saying there isn't a difference, I know there is, just in niche genres of music the fanbase is too small to break it up even further. Saw that with my beloved drum n bass in the late 90's.

I'm long past the age of classifying or caring whats tr00 kvlt or not..
If something is dark and it takes me some place when I listen to it then I am all for it.

For example here is a clip for the band Purson which are part of the style of music for newer bands which is clearly influened late 60/70s occult style bands...

Another, though not metal necessarily , performer I am really into currently is Chelsea Wolfe.

Right now, just a slew of Volbeat. That being said, reading the responses here has jumbled things up again.
