We all should be cognizant of the changes on the net. I have a policy of NEVER paying for any service on the internet. If we all work together to 'just say no' to fees for services then we can keep things free. It will force news outlets, youtube and others services to find alternative ways to profit than to charge fees.

Me too but at least we remember when the net was exiting and a free for all , now it's becoming a sanitised marketing tool or just a way for our Governments to keep tabs on us.

I agree!
In the uk the bbc makes anyone with a television pay a TV license fee. I've always maintained that if everyone said "We're not paying" they'd give it to us for free because they WANT us to be watching it.
I also never use internet services that require a payment.

The TV License applies if you have any reception equipment capable of receiving a terrestrial broadcast, but one license covers all devices in one house. The license originally only applied to TV sets, but then all sorts of portable TV's came out. But over several decades this has blurred; monitors were always exempt, same with computers. But a TV card for your PC would need licensing. Technically having a device that can view programs from the Internet would also require a license. But then this would apply to smartphones and tablets as well.
