I found this Wikileaks article today while reading the Spy Files that is chilling if you know more background.

I first learned about this game while reading this bitter argument on Reddit by some of its former players a few weeks ago.So apparently back in 2009 somebody created this elaborate "alternate reality game" with many online characters that encouraged real life criminal behaviors like hacking websites or talking to the North Korean government! It was way out of control and lots of people got very angry or upset about their experiences. But the thing is nobody ever got a good idea of why it was made.

The reddit moderator seems to have deleted this post because the comments got extremely vicious and two guys were giving out each other's personal info! They were also arguing how some of the players "never stopped" and that it was now more criminal compared to when it started. They accused one American player called Night Hawk of lying and being behind all the manipulations.

However, the thing that really got my attention and is mentioned also in the WikiLeaks article is very bizarre indeed...

A group of players in the game were led by a woman called Oksana Kareyeva, who is today known to be a member of a Dagestani "black widow" cell:

www.trackingterrorism.org...

Oksana Kareyeva (aka Oksana Konstantinova or Diyne Seteney) is a unit commander and former guerrilla leader of the Dagestan Liberation Army. Oksana is known for being highly skilled in online propaganda and for exploiting foreign journalists.

Also there is a horde of South American players (very big online) who support this same side, anarchists called the Holy Warriors of Gwaschemasch'e

The amount of information on this is very overwhelming and contentious, and I admit I do not understand the technical parts of the hacking incidents described. So I am waiting to hear your thoughts.

I cannot believe I did not find this until now but it did not come up in my Google search results before. There was a thread here on ATS back in 2009 - www.abovetopsecret.com...

The Google site does not work anymore, but there are many videos of it on Youtube.Very strange how this company Alfa-Center was involved. In my country,it sounds like a bank! : /

The WikiLeaks mentions this company also I have found a lot of material online mentioning them.

I was looking this woman whom both groups of players revere, early 20th century female occultist Gwaschemasch'e Efendi. She was of the Circassian people. They are a diaspora forced out of Caucasus in 1860s by the Russian tzar and his Kossak mercenaries.

Gwaschemasch'e was one of many wives of Abdul Hamid II,last Ottoman sultan.Leading the fashion of the time, she was an avid practitioner of the Magna Mater cult and invited participants to take part in Solstice rituals at the ancient site of Mnajdra on the island of Malta.

This would be shocking were it not for the events of these past few months.

Having read through this thread and the WikiLeaks article, I can personally confirm the existence of Alfa-Tsentr (aka ‘ChOP Tsentr-Alfa’).

Alfa-Tsentr was one of the first ‘Russian Blackwater’ type companies in Russia, founded by retired “Alfa-Group” spetsnaz. Although they have yet to enter the global market and work on behalf of other governments, they have been here in Dubai protecting Russian and Emirati private interests since around 2007.

My personal sources corroborate reports that Alfa-Tsentr spetsnaz played a security and advisory role in the annexation of Crimea…

www.chop-alfa.ru...

Also, I have good reason to believe that they took a part in the numerous seizures of public buildings by supposedly home grown 'self-defense' militias in southeastern Ukraine.

I already told about the pro-Russian fighter 'Ilovaisky' interviewed by the BBC who went by name of 'Yuri Tretiak' in Dubai. Well there are more of them...

Remember the Kuban Cossack, Alexander ('Babay') Mozhaev first interviewed by Simon Ostrovsky?

Before he had a beard, Alexander was the head of 'VIP security' and personal body guard to Gafur Rakhimov at the Burj Al Arab hotel. When I left the hotel in 2010, he was a full-time salaried employee of Alfa-Tsentr.

Also the Cossack's collaborator, Alexander Boroday -- the self-appointed prime minister of the Donetsk People's Republic who just held court over the Malaysian plane debacle -- he formerly worked out of Alfa-Tsentr's Moscow office as a political analyst and public relations consultant.

With all the disinformation about, it is very difficult to tell exactly who is pulling the strings. But I believe that Alfa-Tsentr (as well as Razman Kadyrov’s paramilitary force) provide a convenient proxy for the Kremlin so they can keep denying their actions in Ukraine. However, I never thought their spy technology reach was so advanced as that of the States.

Thank you for your reply, you seem well informed LoveSupreme. It is difficult to reconcile the Ottoman princess and this company Alfa-Tsentr yet they keep coming up in relation to each other, I can't figure out the connection but I think I'm onto something really weird.
This is one of the most comprehensive yet succinct accounts I have found online about Junko Junsui in English from a blogger.

thejunsui.wordpress.com...

Too bad a lot of the links and videos no longer work.

Some parts of the blog I found intriguing:

personal information has become such a large part of this experience. Depending on whom or what you believe (and the vastly varied number of opinions on what exactly is happening here is the reason compelling me to write these notes), real names and personal details have become a part of this story, almost a form of currency

Diyne [Oksana Kareyeva] mentions some kind of data attacks and relates them to something causing Junko to pull her profile off Facebook. On 8/5, Junko did in fact pull down her Facebook profile. On 8/6, there was a large attack, emanating from the former U.S.S.R. This would not be the last time that Junko’s actions seemed to predict a major incident involving Russia

Some of the denounced, for whom I have unreserved pity, suddenly found themselves the target of the sustained wrath of 4-chan and some of the other more fanatic Junsui supporters. In a very novel reversal of fortunes, the websites that these individuals were attempting to hack suddenly and mercilessly hacked them back.

There was one incident in which the Junsui seemed to predict, within an hour, the timing of a suicide bomb attack in the Caucus Mountains region (by separatists in their beloved ancestral land of ‘Circassia’). The Junsui announced on both Twitter and their Facebook that ‘an attack was coming’ and lo, it did. This event, along with many other complaints relating to bank fraud, computer crime, and even pornography were reported in turn to the American FBI by very likely over-imaginative consumers.

Seriously WTF?

I don't get all the conjecture about Center-Alfa, it's a security firm, so what?

About Us

"Center-Alpha" Ltd. was created by former veterans of Alpha Group more than 12 years ago and at the time, it is one of the well-established security companies in Russia, providing reliable security to properties, which are entrusted to us by the customers.

The principle of our company is strict compliance with the laws of the Russian Federation.

Choosing "Center-Alpha", you choose:

Confidentiality;
Flexible pricing;
A full range of security services;
Guaranteed security for your business.

Our private security company pays special attention to the selection of the personnel, which is trained in special units of the Federal Security Service and Interior Ministry.

Some of the security services we offer includes armed and unarmed security installations, maintenance of goods and security of individuals.

So they provide private security services, they guard warehouses and VIPs, who knows what they do under the table, but unlike KBR, Blackwater and Academi they are not running around the world gunning people down, they are not manufacturing their own military grade weapons and armored vehicles, and they are not flashing their logos all over TV every time an oil rich country apparently decides to have a "revolution" so they can hand over all of their oil reserves to US oil companies.

Unless you have this thing called EVIDENCE, you put together a fun story there, great job, to some it even might be entertaining.

i gotta ask... are you at all familiar with ARGs?

i ask because these things are designed to intrigue people... and if you just happen to stumble upon one, it might seem worth posting about, but at the same time, it could just be a game.

people post these types of things all the time on reddit, and 4chan/x/

i remember seeing this particular one on /x/ a year ago or so.

Wikileaks presented information that is credible. It has legs.
You don't think Russia engages in Psy-ops and uses front companies??
Comeon .... of course they do.

Given the recent events and the appalling Russian propaganda I would be surprised if that was not true actually. I have been doing some digging last night.

Here are some disconcerting observations on the fascistic ideology of Gwachemasch'e and Junsui players from
the blog I posted before

By the early nineteenth century, Circassians were associated with theories of racial hierarchy, which elevated the Caucasus region as the source of the purest examples of the white race, which was named the Caucasian race after the area by Johann Friedrich Blumenbach. Blumenbach theorised that the Circassians were the closest to God’s original model of humanity, and thus ‘the purest and most beautiful whites were the Circassians.

Her spiritual mentor, encouraging her study of arcane lore, was one Guido von List. A little delving on Herr von List reveals that he was associated with (and in fact the video mentions him by name) one Lanz von Liebenfels. Von Liebenfels is perhaps better known to devotees of video games and conspiracy theories as one of the founders of the Thule Society, the Bavarian occultist group which was a direct sponsor of the Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (which later became the Nazi Party)

At this point we can safely assume that it presented itself as an ARG somewhere around 2009 from what I gather, and there seems to be a large group of people who thought it was, but many things come up that are not consistent with ARGs. In fact Alfa-Tsentr turns out to be a real entity that works for the Kremlin as military contractor, like one member mentioned, involved in the Crimean crisis as well as the Ukrainian conflict.
Here is a discussion on a podcast where they talk about the game encouraging players to commit criminal acts:

www.virtualpolicy.net...

At 9:05 in the podcast:

The game was encouraging the players to hack real North Korean websites, like military websites.

Ive always wanted to play an ARG once i first found out about them. This does seem fairly odd whatever it is. I am not informed enoigh to look at the big picture easily.

Also this reminds me of something i never got into but heard about. Isnt there or was there something called Google Missions or spy or or something along those lines of name where any random person would post a task online for others to complete. The instant i heard about it i considered possabilities of myself making many people do small actions to get big things done while no one would be aware of the larger task but nothing criminal i had in mind and have not attempted yet as i cant find the site if its still around.

The only problem is that this is not an ARG though it made some efforts to convince people that it was, it is something else, with real world consequences, military companies involved in real conflicts.

Alfa-Tsentr's employs representing themselves as members of the 'separatist' leadership is about as obvious to me as exists. Not sure what we would be able to post here short of employment records. Not that those will ever become public.

Yes, I agree.

I don't think characters in games give press interviews, or do they?

www.businessinsider.com...

There is quite a cult that has grown up around Russia’s Spetsnaz special forces, with books, movies and exposes both serious and farcical alike. Names such as Alpha and Vympel have become well known. Indeed, some could almost be considered franchises: as far back as the 1990s, veterans of the Alphaspetsgruppa had set up private security firms, trading on their unit’s formidable reputation (see, for example, Tsentr-Al’fa).

I was refering to how it passes as an ARG but it still is a game to people playing. Some may think its a game alone while others just are okay with criminal activity and keep going even if they know since that too is a game to them. It obviously must be something more than just a game by the creators because if it was just made to look realler than that for propoganda purposes then the message would be clear there wouldnt be peope in the dark. People in the dark shows its an orchestration of something bigger. Of course there also is the possability that the game is to just hide the activities of people successful in the games mission. What i mean is the people doing the hacking or phoning are in the know and everyone attempting and failing is to make these efforts look bigger than they are as if a large army of people are at it. Although i dont see much point in that as why go through the effort if chamces of being caught are the same? So i presume most the people know nothing of what the games objective in reality is while the masterminds sit back avoiding being prosecuted.

That is actually a good reasoning Aural, the implications are vast. And when we are on the subject of criminal activity

I found this chronological summary of events in 2009,apparently copied from another thred by somebody using the name “kadomony”.

It included more discussion about the game and actual terrorist bombings:

Meanwhile, Junko had posted on her facebook something similar to "ATTACK TIME IS NEAR"

Less than an hour later, there was a suicide bombing in the area Alfa-Tsentr is supposedly located.

YES IN REAL LIFE.

here's the article:
www.nytimes.com...

This is really where started to hit the fan as the majority of people involved in figuring this out now had no idea if this was really a game or some kind of front for a Chechen terrorist organization. Rumors started flying, people were threatening to call the FSB (russian FBI basically) and tons of other stuff. Junko later said this was all a coincidence.

I found other articles about the same bombing which the game “predicted”, supposedly to the hour:

Wikipedia article
