A woman who witnesses said appeared to be in labor was prevented from crossing an LA street Wednesday afternoon because the road was closed for President Barack Obama’s motorcade.

"We’ll be able to open it up for traffic and first we’ll thing we’ll try to get to will be an ambulance, but I can’t guarantee it will be…" the officer said before the 15-second video was cut short.

I thought the same thing myself when I read the article. This thread just looks like a sad attempt to blame Obama for something, which frankly was out of his control. His motorcade wasn't even there yet. It was his security detail, who probably didn't appraise him of the one woman sitting on a bench who may or may not be in labor, that stuck to protocol and not let anyone across until the motorcade passed.

The better question is why did no one across the street come and assist this woman while she waited to cross the street if she was supposedly in labor? This woman sits there for about 30 minutes before she can cross the street and not a SINGLE person came up and asked if she was alright or needed assistance? Heck instead of whipping out his cell phone to record this "travesty" why didn't the reporter actually you know FACT CHECK and yell across the street if she needed help? Nah he needs to document this for later so he can blame Obama for something he has no control over. The reporter certainly had time to do this as the motorcade didn't pass for 30 more minutes. He could have verified her needs and coordinated with people across the street to make her more comfortable or provide some water or something.

This is a rather poor attempt to paint Obama in a poor light, and I certainly don't like him as a president. This is just grasping at straws...

Has any president ever stopped their motorcade for anyone? I believe I already know the answer.

What should he have done that no other president has ever done? Is this just a troll thread for stars and flags?

Then why didn't you make a thread explicitly about that? Instead you make a thread about this non-issue and tie the number of fund raisers Obama has attended to the end of the thread as an afterthought like it somehow legitimizes the non-issue that the story in the OP is.

Doubt it happened....but

If she was in THAT much labor, then she should have left to the hospital sooner. If she was just starting labor, then she had plenty of time to wait.

She could have even called 911 and had an ambulance meet her the next street over. She could have given birth in the back of the ambulance if necessary.

This is such a non-story.

Fox reports that staff from Ceders came to her aid... If they could get to her, why couldn't she get to them???
