Thanks Mediator. I am also speechless at what I've been reading here, even from moderators and am surprised ATS allows this.
I wonder what would have happened if the OP had written "black" or "Jew", instead of French Quebecers.

But I should have learned by now that I should let myself be assimilated... lol

FlyersFan, and the others, I went to the states a couple of times, and always I met snobbish people. I'll generalize too and will know from now on that every US citizen is snobbish? I'm glad I'm not ignorant on this anymore... generalizing seems to be OK. Check!

I wonder why I don't feel welcome to ATS anymore?...

PS: Mediator, I too, was a firm believer this kind of hate towards Quebec was over.. wow... lol Now I know better...

I read the title of the thread and wondered if you stumbled on an American transplant calling themselves Canadian.

Then upon reading, I see she was from Quebec. Ohhhhh, that explains everything. Those displaced French folk aren't real Canucks, even we here in the Tourist Trap State know that
To be frank, Floridians prefer an influx of people from NY or NJ over French Canadians, they're that notoriously rude & insufferable (and I've yet to meet a French Canadian tourist who isn't)

Now, the rest of Canuckistan, we love you folks. Really, really love you! You're the most pleasant, polite, happy-go-lucky people & we love having you down here. Your bacon might just be round ham slices, but you have hockey, real beer, and maple syrup. That's the trifecta of awesome

You get the same protection for your HISTORICAL Cultural Heritage ...... like everyone else.... no more and no less, however Quebec has intentionally broken this rule and sucked energy out of Canada as a whole ,if you were born in Canada you are CANADIAN,and the buck stops there, you are not French or English or Ukrainian or Polish or Chineese or Pakistani or Zulu or anything BUT CANADIAN.

You are a CANADIAN FIRST, if you were born here or have committed to being a Citizen of that there is no doubt, therefore you WILL respect your Heritage as your Parents and Grandparents before you have done no matter where in the World they were born, you will say you are CANADIAN and you will support Canada FIRST AND FOREMOST.

No one is catering to Quebec anymore in fact over the last 25 years they have essentially simply been ignored, and the next time we hear about them it will be when their artificially instigated and structured con-job is ended by the Millenial generation.

Quebec has ALWAYS been simply Canadian,it is the people who are benefitting from the con-job who struggle to keep the dynamic alive, most of those people are now old and falling out of the picture.

Canada is not the same Country is was 40-50 years ago,it has become likely the Worlds most diverse Community of Cultural expression,Canada has naturally grown into this identity.

Canada is still in its Infancy as a Country, they are still growing.

Canada is the LEAST LIKELY place in the world where one would try to make one Historicl Cultural History more important or preserved than another one,no one in their right minds would try to use the Government of such a Country to serve their own small special interest Groups needs. But remember Canada has been evolving,in the past Canada was ripe to be plucked by the Quebec tricks, not anymore sunshine, for the simple fact that there are now MORE Canadians who understand the saying that the Nail that sticks up the highest gets hit first and hardest...... where as the Quebec people wish everyone would still subscribe to their provincial motto of... the Squeaky Wheel gets more of the Grease.

If anyone from Quebec says they "dont feel welcome" in Canada then they intone that they have an option somewhere else,Family is Family and Quebec is Canada,so you have NEVER HAD AN OPTION,this is the biggest part of Quebecs identity crisis, there was NEVER AN OPTION.If you artificially create an option then you can claim you do not "feel welcome someplace", well forget it no one is even accepting that BS story.Quebec is Family and they will sit down at the dinner table with the rest of Canadas Provinces and be on their best behaviour like everyone else, and from now on when they whine and cry they will be sent to the Little Peoples Table until they decide to grow up.The days of pandering to the spoiled child are over now, permanently.

There was NEVER an option. An option splits Canada and makes her weak, Quebecs provincial behavioural issues and attitude problem date back to the war of 1812 this issue is and has always been a gaping crack in Canadas National Identity, and it is time to seal that crack up permanently, when that is done the bone will heal stronger than it was,and Canada will become stronger for the experience.

We're talking one province here, not the whole country. So if you find people from a particular American state to be snobby, go right ahead, we know we have 'em. New York is consistently considered to be the rudest, most arrogant batch of a-holes in the US, by Americans, and New Jersey runs a very close second. I didn't arbitrarily pull them out of my butt as an example. They earned their reputation the same as Quebeckers did.

Truth isn't racist or prejudice ... and true personal stories about rude encounters with people from Quebec aren't 'subjective'. Quebec has a reputation for being snotty .. and they've earned it.

PERSONAL stories that aren't SUBJECTIVE?
I think you might need to brush up on the meaning of the word subjective.

No need to anwser back although, I never liked any of your opinions in 100% of your posts and I count you in the worst contributors on this forum.

You have a well earned reputation of been snotty, at least from my subjective opinion.

Whatever dude. I don't care what you think about me.
Doesn't change the fact that Quebec has earned it's reputation.

OUCH !

OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH !!!

Not a good day to live in Montreal, Quebec, after reading this thread...

I did not think there was still so much hate towards us French Canadians living here in La Belle Province...

I will respect your various opinions but I will mention that I've been around in many places around this world, and in many other parts of Canada as well, and I know for a fact that being an a-hole isn't just a trait of character found in French speaking people living in Quebec.

And for those who haven't met one nice person from Quebec or Canada, well...you should go out more often...

I could tell you stories of people I've met, from all over the place, that are rude and uncivilized. Heck, I could easily put out a list of ATS members that are rude and uncivilized. I'd be surprised if they all lived in Quebec.

You know what? I agree.
There are rude people everywhere.

I guess I just had the bad luck of meeting people from Quebec who happened to be rude.
I know this board has mainly had Americans and Canadians posting, but I've also heard people from other countries comment about French Canadians in a negative way.

I was only trying to make light of the subject by posting comments about us Canadians being weird anyways, and our unusual affection for bacon and maple syrup, but I apologize if it offended you or anyone.
I never take myself too seriously, I was actually having a laugh. (I think I'm allowed , being an evil alien over-lord and all..)

Don't ever give a Quebec cop an excuse ... seriously ... don't even go through a yellow light.
They'll try to railroad Americans every time.

They'll do that to Ontarians too. Believe me.

It's all good !

I just felt that if I don't defend how I feel about where I live, where also live many good people that I love, then...who will ?

I would think of myself as a nice person, on line and off line. To be thrown out with the bathwater wasn't pleasant but I understand some of the points of views. I've met people here too, that are unbelievably rude. All I was saying is that it isn't exclusive.

I don't normally react to such threads, I've seen others before and closed my eyes. Having had a bad day thus far today probably didn't help, this time around.

No apologies needed, Rainbowresidue. If one should apologize, it is me; I should have just skipped over this thread like I normally do.

Now, being that we're in BTS or OffTopic now or whatever it's called, I will, nevertheless, gladly accept the beer and offer you the very same courtesy...

Cheers !!

~Son.

P.S. If only I could find where Intrepid hides all the beer...oh...the fun we'd have....
