" Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one."

Why is that we can't have this?

--Right now I'm drunk and sobing that we can't have this.

I cried when John Lennon died.

Is'nt it ironic that the man who wrote and believed
in that song became a victim of stupidity and violence?

We can't have that now because we have too many
people in the world like the man who shot John Lennon.

Thats true. I hate to add to some of the stupidity, but one reason is our leaders such as this:

I just wish we could be more careful about our leaders and through that maybe peace could prevail......I'll sob forever maybe.

Well, perhaps the reason is because you hope that there will come a day when you are in the position to change something that is the first step toward a better tomorrow.

Obviously deep inside you somewhere there is some 'reason for you being here' or 'some purpose for you', even if you aren't currently aware of what it is in it's entirety.

Indeed it is. It is an icreasingly scary world, not that it never has been. But it seems that we are all bound by fear of our common humanity. Its humans vs. humans, but they want us to believe it is our people Vs. it, it=nonhuman racial class that we should identify with.

Maybe its the Guiness beer talking, but those words really struck me, cause I haven't found my purpose yet. and that made me aware of the ability I still have to make a change in the world towards a better tommorow.
Thank you.

That song is almost too insightful for most people to understand, which is a very depressing thought in itself. I think the problem that keeps such a world from happening is answered right there in the title, 'Imagine'. There have been many wise people through history that have realized how important it is for people to explore their 'Imagination'.

The man who has no imagination has no wings.
--Muhammad Ali

You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.
--Mark Twain

Imagination is not a talent of some men but is the health of every man.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

Love is a canvas furnished by Nature and embroidered by imagination.
--Voltaire

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
--Albert Einstein

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.
--Carl Sagan

By logic and reason we die hourly. By imagination we live.
--William Butler Yeats

People seem to be forever trapped within a world of Dualistic Perceptions, never able to see the Unity that lay hidden within. Most people have no need for their Imagination anymore. Another favorite song of mine which also points out the tragic loss of One's ability to Imagine is 'Puff the Magic Dragon'. If you'll think back to the lyrics of that song, "What was the reason that Puff the Mighty Dragon left Jackie Paper and sat alone in his cave???"

A dragon lives forever but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys.
One gray night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And PUFF that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar.

His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain,
PUFF no longer went to play along the cherry lane.
Without his life-long friend, PUFF could not be brave,
So PUFF that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave.

John Lennon was a good song writer but also a idealistic man without a firm grasp for the realism of humanity, with pop songs like Imagine. Its not bad to be idealistic but you should have one foot in the real world.

A Eutopia with no greed or hunger or nations or religon
Yes you are a dreamer.

He did get a nice clear view of humanity from a .38

He had a few songs that got airplay in the 60's when he was in a band called The Beatles.
