In down to earth terms, Stealth is basically eliminating reflected cross-section at Microwave frequencies for a moving target surface. How is this achieved? Two kinds of reflections exists at microwave freqs, that is, standing wave and traveling wave reflections. The weird angles on aircraft have to be greater than 90 deg, at any intesection on the surface, as well as less than 90 deg. Right angles, ie orthogonal surfaces create traveling wave reflections. The surface itself creates standing wave reflections. Elimination of traveling wave reflections is a geometric solution, whereas, elimination of standing waves is a chemical solution(ie: applied chemical coating). The ultimate invisibility is based on broadband (Stealth), IR, UV, Microwave, X-ray, Audible freqs. These being absorbed and not reflected by the surface. Who is working on that?
