My favorite line is:

"We shoot down MiGs, threatened the Bush administration official quoted by Reuters. The official spoke on condition of anonymity.

I say let them buy'em. It'll drive them crazy trying to keep them in the air.

On a side note, Russia just warned India against buying US weapons, so maybe there is some tit-for-tat going on...

Quite frankly i'd go with the MiGs...as far as I seen they are more reliable than western fighters...maintenence wise...

As a matter of fact, the US has also "warned" China against selling HJ anti-tank missiles to Iran while selling arms to taiwan. lol

That P's me off. I know this country has one of the best standards of living in the world, but I hate how the feds dictate to the world how they should run their own countries. Of course Bush knows not what soveriegnty is. It is the same as me telling your Grandmother to buy a certain thing because it will be beneficial to me. He is so anti-christian as they get. If you are an athiest or not, the policies of Bush and company are purely selfish and greedy. I could run this country without bullying other nations. The problem is the US policy seems to think that we should globalize and become a NWO, of course with US leadership. This would be unprecedented and an historical accomplishment. What happens after that, I ask? If you are a global superpower and no one opposes you, then you can become dictator and no one can stop you. I kinda like the idea of sovereign nations keeping check on each other.

Yeah true; it is all just politics, you know.

Politicians are kinda like little children when you look at the big picture of how the stuff all works (in my opinion anyhow).

Typical example of the current US adiministrations policy of "We can have all the best weapons, the best tech and the best military in the world, for our own oil wars, but damn every other country who want the same to protect themselves agains the likes of the US"......Just look at Iran and North Korea.....it OK for the US to have upwards of 200+ nukes, but not okay if anyone else tries to develop them.
Its Ok for the Us to build an anti-ballistic missile defense system, but not for russia?
This is like a kid saying "I can do what I want and answer to know1, but every1 else does as I say and not as I do, and answers to me or I'll hurt them"
Total bullsh@t, but unfortunately US is not alone, most politicians think the same way......lack or mutual respect and trust is the problem.

This from the administration that says elections must be free and fair and reflect the will of the people in the Ukraine, that trumpets the "freedom" of Afghanistan and Iraq as foreign policy successes and supports coups against democratically elected governments in South America.
First it was Allende in '73. Then they backed the guys that tried to topple Chavez the first time.

Democracy is what the US threatens its enemies with and dictatorships are what the US rewards its allies with.

There was this little thing the world got together and created called the NPT. In which the world decided it was ok for 5 countries to have nuclear weapons. The US, Russia,China,France and the UK.

All the rest of the countries that signed it stated they wouldn't buy nor develop nuclear weapons. Both Iran and N Korea signed the NPT.

You are joking, right?

Read about India's experiences inducting the Mig-29 here:

What is the key is not which plane is more reliable. The key is that the US is aggressively messing with every country's internal affairs and drawing more and more consternation (not consterpation) from other countries.

Hawkssss, Venezuela may not see it that way. Reliability is a pretty major consideration for an AF inducting a new AC.

As to the other, as has already been mentioned, it's just geopolitics, Russia is doing the same thing to India. China has done similar things to Pakistan wrt western avionics and engines for the PAF.

So as far as the US bashing, why don't you give it a rest. This is nothing that any other country hasn't done.

Well, but most countries don't vote Russia or China as the major threat today in the world. US takes that title and there is a reason for it.

I have concluded that this is a sign of things to come. The president cannot yet get away with being a dictator over the US population, but they can dang sure become dictators to other countries.

Agreed. Its not because of US is a bad country, its how US gets its way around the world and intervenes on other countries bussiness. I have heard the phrase "international bully" being said by my Canadian friends countless times. I personally like America maybe except for Atlantic City because the Hilton hotel was such a nightmare.

America intervenes example:
Taiwan. (Chinese business)
Jews and Palestinian (its holy war, guys)
Yugoslavia
etc etc

So why cant they ignore the treaty just like the US does when it doesnt suit them?

Let's face it, the world doesn't want crazy people to have nukes and that dwarf in Pyongyang is clearly nuts.

And the US has actually decreased its arsenal, which is in line with the aims of the NPT. It just hasn't decreased its arsenal enough to be faithful to the spirit of the NPT.

This includes the nutter called President of the USA.
Besides that, I dont get why Venzuele isnt allowed to have jets?
I have the impression a new cold war is coming.
Russia and USA are mouthing over Ukraine also, now this with the Jets.. I dont like it too much.
