In a recent thread from UPI insider notes, I reported that an upcoming Cheney visit in Afghanistan would pose a very tempting target for the Taliban and al-Qaida:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

So, my questions go to the ATS membership:
1) What do you think WOULD be the US response?
2) What do you think SHOULD be the US response?

I ask these questions because in the article it describes how the Taliban/al-Qaida would allocate ALL remaining assets to take him out, therefore lending particular concern to this "what if" scenario.

Punch somebody in the mouth for allowing the VP to go to such a place with prior media coverage?

1. Unsuccesfully try to invade Iran, because the assassin had a very syrian look in the corner of his eye.

2. Free ice cream and people dancing in the streets singing 'guess who's next! guess who's next! guess who's next!'

I think it's a good plan to use Cheney as a decoy to draw out the taliban. Maybe we should let the taliban know exactly where he's going to be. Drastic situations require drastic measures. Better yet, lets send Bush.

Reaction?? One down, one to go.

nice, one down, one to go...my god. Bali Bali Allah Akfart!

US is already saying they are stepping up the fighting Afghanistan, so I do not think it would make much difference in the real world sense of things. Funeral, Eulogy, and

the ratification of the 25th Amendment, February 10, 1967. The amendment spells out procedures for filling a vacancy in the vice presidency. The office becomes vacant if the vice president dies, resigns, or is unable to carry out the duties of the office. Then the president appoints a new vice president subject to the approval of a majority of both houses of Congress.

Who would he appoint? That is what would worry me.....

hmm, esdad... So you really don't think there would be public outrage and "bloodlust" thirst for retaliation if our VP was killed?

If Cheney was killed, who would run the country? Maybe Karl Rove as the new VP?

Just because I saw something suspicious elsewhere, I'm going to say John Danforth.

aholes? excuse me? you read the original article?

This post wasn't meant for anything other than to point out that given what the original article said, that all remaining assests would be directed at taking Cheney out. So that is why I posted this. I have nothing against Cheney other than the fact that I think he had a lot to do with 9/11.

As to you calling me, and all that responded to this post aholes, I will leave that up to the mods to decide.

So was Josef Goebbels. Not a big fan of him either.

TA, did you notice the amount of moronic, childish and purely hateful responses that were made, and did you notice the ones who made them.

Behold, the trolls that have taken this place from the heights it once found.

Seriously, why don't you trolls stop and look at the thread, look at the stupid and totally ignorant posts you've made that contributed not one thing that was worth reading and see how stupid you look and how bad you ar for the board.

There are no "good" men in politics. The man has secrets that would keep you from sleeping for the rest of your life. Do I wish him dead? Of course not.

If he was killed he would be replaced and we would put more effort into Afg.. We would not do anything as crazy as launching a full assault.

I do not think there is a chance that he could be touched firstly, as stated above. At the same time I do not think that there would be a great hunger for revenge, as there was after 9/11.

The US reaction would be one of mourning, and I agree that outing such as that to hostile nations should never be announce to far in advance.

...Or maybe it could be spun into an act of war funded by the North Koreans through a syrain terrorist camp that employed Saudi born Egyptian nationals using weapons from China using scopes provided by France with bullets manufactured in none other than Israel. And they drive Hummers....

I'm sure a lot of cheering would go on IMO, but I wouldn't among those people, even though I don't care much for Cheney.

It would have a sense of irony if nothing else....

Umm, yeah I did, and was just about to u2u you and ask that you remove the thread, figuring I failed to make any connection here with any of you.

Look people, or trolls, as TC puts it: I am not a big fan of "what if" scenario posts. If you check my posts you will find I have no history of this. But this case was different, because, again, of what the original article said. It made more probable, or likely, that the Taliban/al-Qaida would go to extreme efforts in an attempt to kill Cheney in Kabul.

I would assume that if this post seemed excessively presumptious, the mods would kill it.
