If you want a serious review, you have to go elsewhere. This is merely a couple of casual comments.

I just saw the new release and it is one of the best movies of the sci-fi genre in a long time. I saw a online review which gave it a big thumbs up and decided to see it before my neighborhood theater got too crowded later this weekend. Believe me, "they will come" when the word gets around. I agree with about every word the reviewer had to say about it. In my view, it is fantastic. It is a movie with meaning and depth. You get to know and understand both side of the issue. And you just may wind up pulling for the other side.

'Nuff said. .

Cool.
I spent money to see Godzilla which was okay then I saw Transformers which was worse so I'm a bit uhhhh on summer movies.

I thought the first episode was okay but the sequel has been receiving great reviews.

Thanks for a personal opinion.

Would you mind either linking the review with which you agree, or telling us the reviewer so we can read it?

I made the ape face prosthetics for a compamy long ago I don't usually like the ape movies, because the actors in their make up make me feel claustrophic. I hear this one is done in CGI.

I enjoyed the previous "Planet of the Apes" movie. I will have to see this one.

Most sci-fi movies are lame in my opinion, especially in recent years.

Here's the aggregate reviews for anyone who cares:

I loved the first movie!
Can't wait to see this one!
here is the official preview for anyone who has not seen it yet.

Growing up I watched the originals, and they were good at the time, however now...
WOW!

So much better.
Doesn't usually go that way with remakes.
Actually I guess these wouldn't be remakes as much as the story of how it became the planet of the apes...

I liked the first one. Had one of the best plot twists in film history.

Only other one that side swiped me that way was "The Sixth Sense".

Good to know

I've been waiting on this movie since "Rise of the planet of the apes" came out

Great movie!

Best one of all of the POTA movies... and lots of potential for a few sequels

Should be good

The concept scares my wife. But, I called her in to watch the trailer above and she says, "Do you wanna go and watch it?"

I saw it this PM and found it to be a an adaquate time killer but that's about all.
Sappy overused techniques to get you to care about the characters....baby monkey...really?

There wasn't an honest moment in this film. Totally contrived but the CGI was fantastic, great backing music trac, set dec, props, and production value. To bad the story was so lame. Script wise... 3 word phrase/grunts from the monkeys and not much better from the Human "actor" monkeys.

Visually stunning and some great scenes but that's about it.
No real emotion, human characters are crap... the don't show enough of the interaction between them and the apes and it basically just turns into any other formulaic action flick.

Worth it for effects alone and it wasn't terrible... it's a decent film, but nothing spectacular in the story department.

Been OK this year for blockbusters, X-Men, Godzilla, 22-Jump Street... This.

Also some excellent movies in general.

Boyhood
Grand Budapest Hotel
Enemy
Blue Ruin
Calvary
Lego Movie

Plus many more to come out in the UK still.
