It was relevant, you just don't want to hear it. There may be plenty of nice folks coming here illegally, but allowing in just anyone has resulted in a lot of negative things happening.

I do open my home to them....and I open my home to anyone in need. It's called compassion and, even though I am agnostic, Christian values.

Some people would be better served if they followed that idea.

Surely there is a limit to how many you can take in. Would you turn away an American and take in an illegal instead? That's what this all about. Anti-illegal folk do not believe it is right to place someone else above their own. You wouldn't take food from your child's mouth to feed someone else's no matter how much compassion you had.

We have plenty of compassion and wish with all our hearts that we could care for people all over the world, but it isn't possible. If it were, we would all be content.

With that, I say goodnight even though it early morning. I haven't slept yet.

If you are referring to the 'native' Americans, they're not actually aboriginal to the US; they migrated from what is present day Siberia, at a time when Russia was joined to North America.

They displaced the people here before them...who probably displaced those before them, and so on.

You are saying that BECAUSE of the illegals our countrymen would be much better off and that is not true. Our problems have nothing to do with excess people and everything to do with the wealthy skimping on their taxes, corporations getting government welfare and handouts to the rich over the past 30 years. It is not the cheap labor that picks our fruit and somehow manages to do better than we do because yes, we are getting worse and Americans are not given a fair shake. We bailout banks and let the middle class struggle to keep a roof over their heads and the poor struggle to eat, meanwhile many of these immigrants are better off here than in their own homeland. They are optimistic and motivated to become a success. We are letting our government molly coddle the rich instead of us. That is not their fault. A border does not suddenly make a human being another species. We need to FIX OUR OWN GOVERNMENT AND do what we can to help those of these people we can. There is nothing that says we can't do both except the Republican myth. You can bet that some actions by the USA in some of these countries, selling guns to Mexico and arming guerrillas for example, is a lot of the reason some of these innocent people have to run. I know someone from Columbia who was running for his life, with his wife because the government soldiers came into his store. This meant they must have been in collusion with the soldiers and so now the guerrillas were after them. They did nothing and this was a dear couple who did not deserve what was happening to them. I have lost contact with them but I hope they were allowed to stay here in the USA since both were still undergoing a process that was going to take many many years. And that poor young boy...if I had any power to change things, well it never would have gotten like this, he would not be dead of dehydration because other people think it is Patriotic to break water bottles left for immigrants in the desert. Countries should not look after people, human beings should look after human beings. That is if there are any left on the planet.

If you are talking about China, sign me up too.

If I am going to hate a nation, cut off ties and close the embassies...WHY NOT the communists who we know are guilty of the worst human rights abuses on the planet and want to take us over? Instead of the largely Christian countries to our south, notoriously plagued with bandits?

China is largely Islamic or Buddhist. We know they are arming themselves to take over the USA eventually, killing sharks for their fins, killing dolphins for the heck of it, taking bile from bears and skinning dogs for fur.. None of these should have any of our support in any way shape or form but Walmarts is over there opening a 100 stores. Meanwhile China is paying poachers to produce elephant tusks and rhino horns for medicines? These are the people I do not agree with on a philosophical level and yet we seem to be sending them our best ideas, and working side by side like blood brothers. We are the best thing to happen to China since spaghetti.

I'm watching District 9. It's the 3rd time I've seen it. You could substitute the Prawns with Mexicans and it it sort of the same as we have here now. The same arguments, aliens, you don't even have to change that word and it really mimics what we have going on today. The first two times I watched it, when it came out in theaters, this was certainly not the case, but the invasion of children is looked at quite the same as these aliens Prawns who suddenly get set up in camps around Johannesburg.

That's not what I came to say though. I have a pretty big liberal heart but would not want to be so free and open with immigration, we end up like the UK, letting Muslim radicals come in and recruit from among the civilized world. You have to have some kind of sanity and a plan. You need to come to grips with the repercussions and consequences of our actions, what ever they may be.

Go ahead and set up a border war with Mexico and you'll see the Muslim extremists go there and set up activities against us right in our own back yard and recruit the rest of Mexico to go along with it. They are hungry and desperate too. It would be an easy sell. Be careful not to go all Cowboy like George Bush because all he did was knock down a well managed hornets nest. We are about to do the same again.
