It's not bugs. I have done a semi-scientific study. There are bugs flying around the room -- moths usually -- and the cats are interested, but they know they can't leap that far and lose interest.

Stark contrast to the things, which cause their little pupils to swell and set them into a 1000-yard stare at something just behind me.......... probably moving closer.......... perhaps with a ghostly claw near my throat....... and I LEAP to my feet and scream YOU #ERS BETTER STOP DOING THAT I DON'T CARE WHATCHA SEE JUST KEEP IT TO YOURSELVES!!!!!

Now. It's either they see something I can't......... OR....... they are in collusion to screw with me for their own personal pleasure and enjoyment. Both options seem equally plausible.
