Great story!

This makes me think we need a "Hope for Humanity" forum. I sure could use a few doses of this everyday. It's hard sometimes when you focus on trying to figure out what the heck is going on in the world and can be depressing. Stories like this remind me of why humanity IS still beautiful.

Thanks for this!

It is kind of funny really, I can just see it if the guy darted the bear and the bear went into the water and they let him drown. That would have been a story!

To me he simply did his job, I can't see all the hero stuff for doing what he was there to do. I guess it is based on people not understanding the bear was knocked out or maybe they are thinking it could have woke up, which I don't know because I have no idea how reliable those tranquilizers are but I bet the guy knows.

I'm sorry I can't recall what news agency featured this article, but just a few days ago, a bear had it's head stuck in one of those big plastic Costco cookie/pretzel jars- you know the kind-

They tranqued him and cut the plastic jar off of him, or he would've suffocated.
I have a favor to ask ATS members:
If you buy bulk items in big jars, (or even medium sized jars, due to hedgehogs) would you mind tromping the container flat as a pancake before you toss/recycle it?
Thanks.

Kind of a feel good story, I guess. Though humans forced drugs into his system, thus endangering his life in the first place. Hopefully he doesn't return to the burbs else they may administer a dose of hot lead instead.

That's what I was just thinking!

It's definitely a cool story but very old news now! Surprised people still haven't heard about it.

I have had a significant amount of encounters with bears in the wild. I have no fear of them, but I do have an immense respect. They are absolutely incredible and I loved it when they were around.

I have no doubt the bear would "remember." I wouldnt have an issue making the same attempt, but they are pretty comfortable in water sans tranquilizer.

Regardless of the age, I hadnt heard of this story. Thank you to j.r.c.b. for linking a working vid.

No video of it?

Still, wow to save a bear, what a wonderful man he is. I wonder if the bear will remember it though.

The bear will project it/enter it in the collective consciousness as another thumbs up for humanity and another positive WILL reflect back upon the species of man
The southern whaling projections however...

I like you Ophiuchus13, but you clearly do not realize as do most who believe they know about things metaphysical, that there is NO ONE collective consciousness, not only that but most of them are broken, busted, and manipulated.

Only reason this experiment here continues, is because of energy generation, and the hope that we will somehow evolve just enough to open the stargates that they cannot, without us KNOWING IT!!!

I applaud the guys bravery but it is kinda stupid to do what he did, I understand the bear was tranquilized but he could have been seriously injured it still is a wild animal. But glad everything turned out good for both parties.

What do you mean that animals don't see life as we do?.

They do exactly the same things we do for the same reasons we do.

That bear was looking for an easy meal digging in garbage cans, and was almost assuredly looking for an easy meal from a trashcan because we came in and built a bunch of ugly houses everywhere and deprived him/her of the wild areas where he/she hunted for it's food.

I don't really think animals maul and kill people for no reason either, if they could talk they would probably be saying the same thing as we do when we attack, maul and kill one another, minus the religious and "moral" justification and nonsense babbling that goes with religion etc.

If the things could talk in a way we could understand we just might realize we are not the good guys that we think we are, and if you honestly look at what people do and the reason people do things it becomes rather obvious how people think, how it was they were brought to think the way they do, and why some people influence other people to think in the erroneous fashion that they do.

In the north there is a problem with deer being hit by cars, people complain about this all the time during certain parts of the year, I have heard many people stupidly mutter about the damned deer in the road never considering that the deer might be bothered by the damned road in their woods.

We do not own this planet and are not entitled to it until we appreciate what it has to offer and consider we are not the only things living here that need it to survive.

I pulled off to help a turtle yesterday, he got across before I could get back there to move him off.

I couldn't stop fast enough to stop close because I was being rushed along by a bunch of rabid, busybody tards in cars they took out a mortgage to drive because they couldn't actually afford to drive them, yacking on their smartphones.....

Really.

Did I miss something? Why is a story from 2008 being posted as being fresh news?

Amazing however I wonder what the outcome would have been if the bear had not been sedated first.
And keep in mind, bears are pretty strong swimmers.
