Uk column is the first youtube channel to be shut down by a UK regulatory body known as ATVOD (owned by OFCOM) for producing "program like" videos. From now on everyone, if this model is adopted, will have to pay fee's or be shut down.

This cannot be allowed to continue, the regulatory body is in beta test ... please help to stop it.

Exactly. Something will take it's place, once people stop using it - if they stop using it. If they don't, they agree to whatever crap that google puts in place.

This gov body was set up to bring down porn sites originally. Not so bad.

But they set their own criterior for regulation, meaning they can target ANY "independant news channel" if they feel like it. Free speech out the window! Truth'ers closed down

I think some of these things get SO BIG that people lose sight of the fact they are still private companies and in some cases, carrying some real controversial policies. Youtube seems to have it's share to have generated debate, to be politically neutral about it. lol....

You're right though. It's still a private company in the end and if they want to say everyone with a name starting with a certain letter of the Alphabet can't post anymore? Well...We'd think Google went ga-ga or something....but they'd be within their rights, I believe.

Hi, uk column are not a private company though.

They where just a small group of people doing their own thing on youtube, and being an independent news, from their home. If this can happen to them, then it can happen to others. ALL free speech media is threatened by this policy.... if we do nothing to protest against it.

This corp body ATVOD has effectively created is own regulations, and given itself more "scope" than its original remit. That was shutting down porn media. ATVOD conduct their own secret courts, which is illegal btw because a judgement has to be performed in front of a "jury of your peers".

If this is allowed to continue all truth'er sites can be shut down

Okay, I may well be misunderstanding something. Is this an issue of an order being served to Youtube/Google for removal of a channel or some content, or is this much broader than that? I'm U.S. so I'm not real familiar with this but what starts in the UK can often come here now as much as what starts here can end up there. So I'm certainly interested.

My only problem is, what is BS?
I can say what I do not believe in, but who is to say if I am right or wrong?

Either way, it sure is a good thing there is more than one video hosting site out there.
And apparently things are just as good financially as they were 30 years ago that any new companies won't have such a problem starting up!

Wrabbit2000, hi, this is much broader subject because, if we let them get away with it, it will be adopted by our brothers (usa) and other countries. The UK channel didnt break any laws or commit any crimes, they only produced a "program like" channel... which so happened to highlight controversial subjects, and bring the truth out. The powers that be didnt like it, so targeted them under the "legal" not "lawful" terms of statute acts. ATVOD was set up to deal with porn sites, and "on demand" broadcast TV programming (as in TV). This has now recently been reworked to include media such as youtube ... which will include ANY form of video sharing website.

Joining a new website or creating a new website to host them on will still come under "on demand" criteria that they have set.

ATVOD has only just been set up, but could set a precedence for ALL channels, newpapers any type of reporting that the independant public so happen to want to do. What im saying is this regulation could see the end of independent news.

UK column would have had to pay a massive license fee for producing their small backyard reporting, uploaded to youtube / or face a fine, enter court system ect.

Because they touched on so many sensitive subjects, the powers that be wanted to shut them up. This could also happen to any other channel that spikes their interest.

Ok, so im going to calm down ... dont need to defend what ive written, but seriously this is an important topic that needs to be addressed right now whilst we still have a chance.

Youtube has been deleting MANY videos ...

A while back we were discussing these Football field sized UFO and they had posted a 2 or 3 minute video that had jogged my memory ... so I described my experience with that video.

AFTER posting that experience, I had remembered seeing a much different type of UFO near the same time period that I was going to share and discuss. I had seen a close-up youtube video of a much different silvery acorn-shaped UFO with a 30ish-Foot-Diameter. I went searching for THAT video WITHOUT luck. I know it must have been deleted. Again, it was a very close-up and clear video.

Are you, by defintion, one of the, "anyone," and if so, then how did you come to know," the truth?" It seems TPTB are not very effective...why should I, or anyone else for that matter, fear them, if they cannot keep, "the truth," from someone such as yourself?

There are and will be other sites which people people can turn to to post videos, youtube isn't the only source and will lose Google money, more than make Google money!

Time to get people onto a different site then. And get the word out, when this migration happens Youtube is a business model and its up to people to tell em what they don't want.

Youtube is just another part of the Google system of control and deletes more videos than it shows and we should all move on to a better site even if Google blocks it and twiiter stops anyone saying a good word about the youtube replacment.

Say the wrong word about a fee paying corporation that pays twitter and you end up taking an IQ test to see how long it takes you to workout that you are tweeting to yourself.

Feel free to include URL in you tweets but if they don't link back to a controled source then be ready for a warning about the site listed in the URL is sending spam or has a virus.

Facebok, Twitter and Google now control "The truth" we think we know and this is a very bad state to be in and none of us can claim not to have been corrupted at one stage or another by this manipultaion of the internet.
