Tankers prob won't ever be unmanned. The reason why is the boom refueling. You have to have someone flying that boom. If it was all drogue refueling like Omega does then maybe.

The uavs are preprogrammed now to air refuel. It's all automated so there is no delay between a pilot flying the uavs and the pilots flying the tanker. We did all this crap back in like 2005-2006 time frame. I did refueling pre contact flights with the x-45 then and also the Lear jets flying with the uav system on board. That was 8 years ago.

Yes, it went by very fast. That's why I wasn't sure what I was seeing and chalked it up to maybe being a meteor. That was until I read this thread, though.

The green WAS very pretty, btw!

Do you really though? I'm pretty sure the same thing was said about having to have pilots in combat aircraft.

With the addition of the fly by wire booms in the KC-46 all the feeling for flying the boom is gone. It's not too far of a stretch to imagine a UAV tanker.

Throw a learning computer onto those KC-46s and you've got a platform to build up the data that would be needed to do it.

Won't happen with tankers and some transports. You'll never see a mostly or all UAV fleet. Yes they're taking the feeling out of the boom, but they're a long way away from putting people as passengers onto an unmanned vehicle.

It's one thing to lose a load of supplies to a firebase because your UAV lost comms, it's all whole other thing to lose all the support gear, potentially fighters being dragged, and their crew chiefs, because your UAV had a bad day.

New to the forum but have been following threads similat to this for a while now here on ATS. Not sure if what I've seen in the sky is related but I did come across a news report with video of a "burning" green light. (I did not see this occasion specifically but something similar)

Very cool post and link. That could be the meteor that everyone is talking about. However, it looks similar but not the same as when I saw the "Green Flame" from this thread.

That looks to me like an actual meteor, or something designed to emulate one. The real thing has the colors backwards from the video, meaning that the dull yellow color is not in the contrail but in the front where the event is happening the green is in the contrail not the other way around as in this video. In the video its green fire and a yellow tail, the real one is yellow fire and a green trail. The trail in the video seems to be ejecting matter out the rear unevenly, the real thing is much smoother and condensed almost beam like and the trail lingers a little bit longer.

Also, the colors (could have been the news links colors) were a little off the green is richer and deeper, and the trail is about half that length longer then in the video. Of course it could be the real one and it just looked different for various reasons from the time I saw it, but to me they are not the same and this video shows a meteor.

Appreciate the response, makes sense. What I saw personally was a green trail, moving as fast as any meteor I've seen previously and seemed to burn up and disappear before the horizon. Im convinced it was just that, a meteor. But the vibrant green color threw me off as I'd never seen a meteor that color.

On one other occasion I did see a green light, stationary, very high altitude. This was around 11am PT. Clear blue skies with one green dot just sitting there, tried to take a couple pictures with cell phone but could not make it out when I went back to look at the photos. I was on my patio for about 3 minutes and it never moved, went inside for a few seconds and came back out, it either was gone or I couldnt find it anymore. I just assumed a chrome colored party ballon that reflected green.

Bingo,, welcome to the club. Sounds like you saw it too. Moves fast don't she! Where were you when you saw it and do you know what general direction it was travelling. Right after sunset? 8:30 to 9:30ish?

Very fast, enough to convince me that it was just a meteor. A little east of san diego, walking to my shop with an employee, both saw it for a couple seconds and both suprised at the color and how long this "meteor" was visible. Traveling east to west, maybe slightly southwest. Not exactly sure of the time, but normally I'm heading to my shop around 8pm, no later than 11pm. Very possible it was within that 830-930 time slot.

Also, across san diego there have been unexplained booms heard with no explanation. Seems to happen every 2 or 3 years and no one has an answer for it. Personally I've never heard them, but see it reported in the news. This is the oldest new report I could find in a quick search:

legacy.utsandiego.com...

Always wondered what caused them, but since reading this board for the last year it makes you wonder if it is in any way related. You can find numerous news stories on it, each different event with the same boom, a few years apart.

I just wanted to say what a cool thread this is and I am happy to have finally caught up in the last three days. I really appreciate all of the hard work by many. This is by far the best forum on ATS. One thing that has me thinking about the green lady, and other sightings like it. I have noticed that a very high percentage of these sightings happen on Wednesday nights. I know it sounds silly but I looked up some other black project type sightings and again- Wednesday nights.
I am working on plotting a graph and will post it soon but if one were to look up the triangle sightings of January 2000 in Southern Illinois, the '83 mass sighting in the Hudson valley, and others all fall on a Wednesday night. Kind of strange. Phoenix lights were on a Thursday but the previous night wasn't conducive weather wise.
Also, many of these sightings happen during a new moon or within 3 -5 days of a new moon. Makes me think the best time to look skyward would be in the middle of the week during the new moon. Would these not be the ideal conditions to test a black project aircraft? Just curious.
Thanks again to everyone for making this site such an interesting one.

George

Pretty much yeah those times would be good to fly a black project, well that's how it plays out over at Area 51 anyway. Dark moonless nights and you can't see the silouette of the aircraft.

Does anyone here (you guys with inside knowledge) know specifically which manufacturer makes the engines for these highly classsified black op triangle craft for which people are seeing flying around lately? Kind of curious to know that one if that can be revealed.
