With respect to zaphs pic.
I wish there was some scale reference, because what i see is a small aircraft ,the gold cockpit on the left, that looks like some sort or parasite vehicle for the larger aircraft, that shares a design philosophy with an f22.
So what I think it is, is a large stealthy " mothership"that is meant to ferry or deliver a smaller vehicle of some sort.

I was thinking scale model used for RCS testing at a range. Possibly even a flying model, similar to the X-48.

Speaking of which, interesting rumors about that thing.

I've got some of my own ideas about the x48, but that's neither here nor there.
Speaking of scale models, a couple of years ago while driving along 395 near Palmdale, I saw an f16 flying along the highway, at what seemed to be an impossibly slow speed. After a driving alongside for a few minutes I realized it was a 1/2 scale model. It flew between us and a building so I was able to get a sense of scale. It was so realistic, with weapons on pylons and the belly drop tank. After a minute or so it turned away and pulled up, then I lost sight of it.

Wouldn't the x48 be Boomers territory? Gotta think the rumors are true because it would fill a need that's needed for the new fleet. Can't let a sore thumb stick out and ruin the party.

Nope. It's a different territory than his, although it might make for an interesting tanker.

Oooh! Ooooh! Is it realted to a new AWAC? Oh, wait! A new C5 replacement? One that's stealthier. And can carry more? Hold on what about a stealthy mother ship like a megafortress that can release lots of drones.

Uhhh. .... ...the new Air Force One? Would look cool. Come with its own ball room for guests receptions.

Any rumors on the rumors?

Like real small 25 foot and under and probably not manned? or smaller like only 130 foot wingspan to say 50 foot wingspan maybe manned maybe not? What sort of smaller you hinting at?

A boring portable troop launched drone to fly over some sand dune to scope things out?

If you're in the area I think you're in a believe the facilities out there make numerous models of drones for target practice for the navy. After several incidents of hitting planes pulling targets on leashes they started using drones.

We staked out Edwards the other night because I got word they were launching that night, but it was when Malaysia got hit, so their schedule got screwed up.

Well looks like they've found a new schedule and are doing just fine. Good luck to them. PS. To the "others" not of ATS. That was impressive guys. ... And good work.

Interesting. A lot going on in that general direction. How'ed the rest of your stakeout go? Anything exciting whether it's reportable or not?

Fairly quiet night that night. A few meteors and that was about it.
