U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Director Neil Kornze responded to the April letters from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) about the Red River land dispute between the federal government and the State of Texas.
The letter comes approximately two months after the initial requests from Abbott and Cruz were submitted to the director and largely doubles down on broad claims of federal ownership.
Gen. Abbott told Breitbart Texas, "The BLM's recent letter fails to answer the questions that I and many Texans have about the BLM’s seeming land grab along the Red River. It is still unclear what area along the Red River the BLM is attempting to lay claim to, under what authority, and how the BLM intends to treat the Texans who have for generations considered the land private property. The BLM’s inadequate response will force Texas to pursue other options to obtain the needed information -- including litigation if needed."
The treaty between Texas and the US Government forbids the federal government from owning ANY land in Texas without Texas' permission. Enough said.
Texas entry into the Union was under different circumstances than other States that entered after the original 13. Texas was a republic before their entry and the Federal Government owned none of the lands in the Republic before their entry. The only large NP in Texas, The Big Bend NP, started out as a State Park and was deeded to the Federal Government not grabbed by the Federal Government.
Any Texas land that is now considered part of Oklahoma Is part of Oklahoma and was never part of of the Oklahoma territory before it became a State. It was never under the control of the United States government. And the property rights of the Texas owner, transfers to his ownership in Oklahoma.
The Federal Government's argument should concern every State whose boundaries fluctuate because they are Rivers. Our federal government seems to be laying claim to all these border lands between States when the State line moves.
Push Texas hard enough and the Secession Party ranks will grow. There are a lot of people who really like that idea. BLM would find it impossible to take land from the sovereign country of Texas.

Looks like Cruz is showing how stupid he is again. This was settled decades ago and they could read the case files just as anyone else can. Also if the land belongs to anyone it belongs to the Native Americas not to Texas because during the lawsuit it was pointed out that America was acting as the trustee for the Native Americans.

Texas couldn't even hold onto the Alamo so America has nothing to worry about. Besides if Texas did secede from America just look at how much money America would save over a billion alone in FEMA aid a year. Not to mention how funny it would be when the Mexicans in Texas gets a majority and votes to rejoin Mexico.

Obama has nothing to do with this and it sounds like you know as much as the idiot that wrote the article. The Red River dispute was settled in a lawsuit decades ago and it proved that Texas doesn't own the land. Here is the lawsuit Oklahoma v. Texas - 256 U.S. 70 (1921) but don't let facts get in the way of yet another Obama hatefest.

This wouldn't be the same Texas that is always crying for Obama to solve problems that their useless Governor can solve by himself?
