Where are all the starving people in america?

You're right. Too many people still think we are rich when we are trillions of dollars in debt. Some people will not accept that we have poor and hungry people right here in the US

Contrary to what people think of what America is, It's not a place where opportunity is abundant. It's hard to make it, and It's usually done inch by inch, not in leaps and bounds. 50 or 60 years ago, a household with only a working husband could comfortably support a family on an average salary.

Today the situation is very different. Mega-corporations make billions upon billion of dollars annually, yet don't manage to pay the people that work for them very well. These people are the working poor. Those who are trapped in a cycle of having to work a full time job, yet still depend on government assistance to get by. These people can't afford opportunity.

The crime here is that the government assistance that these people get is a de facto subsidy to the same mega-corps that keep wages low.

Im guessing NONE. Get out of your chair and participate. Because you are apparently clueless to the homeless and starving in America.

People do have choices. It does take help to get out of a bad situation sometimes. My point is that right now there places one can reach out too. Suffering will never be eliminated. Things will only get worse unless we expand. If we close ourselves off to the rest of the world then we will implode.

How about driving out to Pine Ridge? You'll one of the poorest places in America there.

So taking resources from others by force, is to you, a more viable alternative to better utilizing the resources we already has available? I'm just trying to understand the POV you're coming from.

It reminds me of when people scream about drilling for more domestic oil with the false idea that its going to lower domestic oil and gas prices which it won't. Those who will be in charge of the new resources, the corporations,which you covet will reap the rewards and those economics will not trickle down to the lowest economic brackets. Additionally, your plan would inflict additional poverty, death and suffering on wherever you decide to invade for the resources you covet. It just seems like a loose loose long con.

We were managing to get by until my wife needed a shoulder replacement. My "White Privilege" was to start heavy manual labor on the family farm at age ten. No college for me, Dad didn't believe in it and since he worked another full-time job to keep from losing the farm, I qualified of Nada.

When we got down to supper being a can of green beans split between us and some biscuits, I gave up and got in line at the food pantry.

I try not to judge anyone until I've had a chance to get to know them. Standing in line for 45 minutes behind people that are driving better vehicles and dressing themselves and their kids better than what we did during the best of times is hard... Then watching the people from the church stand there and call their name 4 or 5 (or more) times to come get their free bags of groceries is hard to watch. They'd walk off and let their kids run wild in the consignment store and then when they finally got their stuff... Nothing!! Whether you speak the language or not, a smile and a nod is UNIVERSAL. Becoming officially disabled hurt. I've always taken care of my own, but my body is shot. I'm profoundly grateful that I don't have to do that each week.

Almost two years ago I was told by someone who works a state job that they risk termination if they suspect that they recognize someone coming in with multiple ID's and confront them for double or triple dipping...

When one of my last jobs was going away because the plant was shutting down our supervisor came back in the early afternoon (that Friday) and said I'd have to run my machine and help my friend unload the line because his helper had to go take a test. If he passed, he started work Monday.

My friend asked, "How in the H*ll can he have a job Monday when we aren't even shut down yet?!?!"

For some reason, my sense of humor has always gotten me in tight spots...

I said, "It's a lot easier when you can fill out a handful of applications."

That's when I was informed that if I didn't keep my mouth shut, I still had time to get fired and I wouldn't be collecting any unemployment...

Because of "Stuff", my friend wound up on work release and, since he had no family in this state, I would go pick him up and run him back and forth. One day he said, "You'll never believe who I bumped into the other night at ***** ***. Did you know that MF has SIX different IDs?" Gee.... Who woulda thunk?

And then when I mentioned on another forum I used to frequent how sad it was about the young couple down South that had been shut down (when their neighbors found out what they'd been doing, they joined in. That block was feeding 500+ meals a week to the homeless. It was the very same food those families fed their kids...), I was informed by another member that it was even sadder that I needed a "Social Progressive" to point out to me that someone needed to regulate the quality of food being handed out.

I doubt good intentions help anyone going to sleep knowing they have kids who haven't eaten in a few days.

I wonder when those swollen belly African children, more than halved starved we see on television, flies buzzing around their eyes, and helping agencies begging for 15.00 a month to feed them, I wonder how congress will feel when those are American children's pictures being shown in other countries asking for help to feed them?

Since there are so many so gung-ho on ending the dastardly "entitlement benefits", I wonder how they will feel if/when that happens?

It is what every american has taken pride in even if they do not realeyes it. When anyone views all the progress made in america and is proud they are reflecting on all the expansion that has been done.

That is something i wonder too and as the american will to continue expansion toward a one world gov. fades then we will find out because it is just the way things work. dog eat dog world.
