Or, could it simply be that these places (parks) offer a locale that is secluded, where a scream can be ignored, a body hidden, and where the nearest law enforcement could be miles away?

Let's face it, if you wanted to commit a crime against another human being, you couldn't ask for a better location than a national park. Maybe THAT is why people go missing there....hmm???

Interesting stuff to read about! S & F
I came across a news article about a missing guy who walked off into the woods on Arnold's Air Force Base and hasn't been seen since July 2011, not even a trace! There is some sort of underground facility there "known" to test NASA's rocket engines. Just a coincidence to add to your post here.

Paul Massicotte’s longtime girlfriend states that she dropped him off near Arnold Air Force Base, close to the Lexington subdivision off Skinner Flat Road, on July 3, 2011. He told her he planned to walk through the woods to a friend’s house a few miles away. The 48,000-acre wooded area is privately owned by the Air Force and is very thick and dense.
Paul Massicotte, a father of six, has not been heard from since.

I've been through our local forests - they're not dense vegetation that you have to cut through as there are footpaths, but if you do go off the paths, then you are having to climb over or under fallen trees, through tangle bushes, avoiding having to stub your feet on stones or falling into holes both hidden by piles of fallen leaves. And that's just the flat areas in dry weather. Add ravines, rainstorms, flash floods, large hungry animals and the odds
of an accident are much higher.

I used to read the early 80's mystery books on people disappearing when "holes" appeared in their homes at night.
Thought that was just sci-fi until the stories of potholes swallowing homes made it to TV.

Millions and millions of people disappear from Major Cities every year and no one is asking where they are going, why?

Is this some type of distrction? Are we simply being led away from the real news again?

How do these small clusters even matter when MILLIONS are going somewhere we do not know about?

Chasing our tails trying to figure out where a few hundred people went, wasting so much time and energy simply pulls us away from the bigger reality, THAT MILLIONS OF US ARE TAKEN SOMEWHERE TO SOME END EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

I think MILLIONS of us are taken underground every year and other places as well never to be seen again.

Any sources to back up this "millions" missing from cities?

Here is a site that shows an updated world map of all the tunnels, caves, etc.
As you will see, there are a lot of them!

Use the arrows in the top left of the screen to navigate the different countries.
www.google.com...

There's none in Canada. Is this correct?

Anyways, interesting topic. I have to check out the links now.
Thanks

There are literally 30 million Chinese living underground right now. If my suspicion is correct(and I think my suspicion is always correct, such as knowing a long time ago that 9/11 was an inside job, just by looking at the way the 1st building fell, and the Mexicans trying to take over. The thing about these countries is that they are constantly taught in their schools that their lands were taken away from them(but never who they took from), which is why you have to be very careful), this is planned, not a coincidence, as there's no way that many people would be that crazy. I mean,
you don't hear of Indians living underground, even though their population is almost as high, and their land is not nearly as large).

It seems to me that the Chinese have a clear plan to win a MAD exchange, which is why I recommend everyone to build their own bunker to counter. Even if just 1 million Chinese survive, then as I've already shown, they can repopulate very fast. If there are many scientists and engineers, then they can rebuild civilization very quickly.

Yes, yes, yes!!

If you red the linked Paulides thread, you'll see I'm a massive fan. And I do have to say before anyone makes claims of accidents, or growers or animal attack... read the books.

Paulides goes into great detail where possible (some cases are from so far back newspaper accounts are sparse) to discount the mundane. Sure, accidents DO happen. Of course they do. In such a wild area it's incredibly likely that some of those who go missing are the victims of mishaps. Animal attack is usually discounted for the simple fact that the area where someone goes missing (or, as I believe, taken) lacks any evidence of attack. Almost always the scene is pretty calm. No signs of struggle, no blood or gore etc. Where there is signs of struggle there's almost never blood at the scene, and it looks more like someone has been tossing belongings around for purely vindictive reasons. Growers, I firmly believe, would not kill or kidnap someone who discovered them. These people are running a highly secretive and illegal operation, and the last thing they want is hundreds of people combing miles and miles of forest for someone they've taken out. It would be incredibly illogical for them to kill. Which, of course, isn't to say they don't, however.

Children are found in areas which it would make no sense for them to be. In the middle of lakes or rivers is common. Thousands of feet higher in elevation than it would make sense to climb. Often those who disappear have been tracked running straight from forest, over a well marked path which would lead to safety, and back into the forest.
I recall several cases where, for example, people recall being chased, or meeting other persons (among other things) in the woods who have fed them.

From reading the books, I can only state what I believe. I believe that whatever is happening to people is the result of something intelligent, something fast and strong, and something that knows the woods better than any person.
I recall in the Dennis Martin account, Paulides interviewed a ranger (can't remember his name, forgive me) who said in at least the Smokies, there were wild men who lived in the forest. Not cave men or Bigfoots (feet?), but human beings who live in the forest. Whether that can explain everything, I don't know but it is something to bear in mind.

Oh, and one other thing which I find quite disturbing. I recall the case of a young woman who was found at the bottom of a waterfall. Park officials said it looked like she'd either tripped or committed suicide and dusted their hands. The sheriff's dept. turned up and told them the body had clearly been dragged away from the initial impact point, which itself was so far away from the base of the cliff that she would have had to have been launched from the top.
Oh, and the post mortem revealed she was raped, almost certainly after the fall which resulted in most of her head being inside out.

great thread, sled !
2 years ago we went horse riding/camping at hocking hills state park in ohio.
hocking hills

it is well know for it's caves and trails, but over the last few years it has undergone some changes.
some of the hiking and riding trails have been shut down and/or re-routed.
supposedly, the park has been making these gravel roads through the park for access.
yet, I found it odd that if you ride one of these roads it ends in a closed locked gate with keep out signs. and the roads show evidence of heavy equipment traveling on them, as in tracks of heavy equipment like trackhoes, etc.

and the park is adamant that you stay on the trails. no off trail hiking, camping, or riding is permitted.

and now for what struck me the most as we rode our horses. from time to time we could clearly tell that we were riding on hollow ground. when you ride a horse with shoes on rock you can just tell. the area does have alot of sandstone and is known for it's caves, but not tunnels or anything. as we rode my ats mind could not help but to wonder what was going on. It was just.... well.... off. if that makes sense.

I did while I was at work earlier.
the only connection was old mans cave, which is a popular tourist destination.
I'd like to go back this summer and explore, but then again I don't want to disappear. lol. the signs looked serious and I just had a bad vibe from it all.
all I could think about was secret tunnels and tptb doing stuff secretively. my friends I ride with don't think like I do.

To true if so many people go missing then everybody would know at least one. But then again you can live your whole life in a city and never know who your neighbor is. And if he one day disappeared what would you think? First you wouldn't think about it as you would likely be to busy with your life, but if you actually did think about it. You would assume he just moved. You could live your whole life in a town and not know what is going on next street over much less the next city over or next country.

But if there were so many people missing either there is some serious mass mind-bending and deception going on, or you just would not notice it because its inconvenient. The truth is nobody has any solid idea on this, and you would think that you would notice people suddenly disappearing and like you said at least every one of us would know one or two who just disappeared one day, but then again we dont notice when people slip through the cracks of society, so why would we notice this. Do you suppose that in a heard of cattle grazing on a field the disappearance of a few now and then would alert the other cattle, or would they just go back to grazing and never think on it again even if they noticed. Generally it is not wise to ask questions you do not want to hear an answer to.

And yes the cattle analogy is apt, this place you call earth is a farm that conclusion I have reached many years ago when a teenager and its kind of obvious, its even run like one. Were some may go or may not go, and if its good or bad, well it all and like everything else merely just depends on circumstances, it could literally be the right place right time, or the wrong place wrong time.

Given the locations, and all the oddities associated with such sites, it would stretch coincidence to the breaking point to assume there was no relation between the two. Aren't three also Bigfoot reports involving caverns? Rocky areas and caves have come into play in many of the disappearing cases, for certain. I'd say a relationship between these things is a given. Provable? Maybe not. However, the evidence is strongly favoring such a conclusion.

Underground really isn't a surprise, anyway. Makes perfect sense, if you look at all this from a particular angle.

National Parks, people missing!? Why not just add all the people who get lost, injured, trapped, mauled, or commit suicide weather in a forest or not. I live in the mountains, people go missing. How about the guy who had to cut his arm off to survive when it was lodged between rocks in a cavern. I met him at a bar, he had no way of getting help, and no one knew where he was or how to find him. Imagine getting bit by a snake, or attacked by an animal that eats you and your friends. All more resonable than abducted or going to an underground city. a reply to: sled735
