I fell asleep after making my first one and it got removed, so I'm going to stay away from any.... volatile topics this time around

I only have one thing grinding me right now

How many of today's issues could be solved with some "old" school methods?

How many people would be criminals if it meant 14 lashings in a public square and wearing a sign around your neck saying "THIEF" or "SEXUAL DEVIANT' or even better "STOLE MONEY FROM OLD PEOPLE'S BANK ACCOUNTS"?

How many people would be honest, hardworking citizens if we nipped any "antisocial" activity in the bud?
A teacher sees someone being bullied and swats the bully on his ass with a cane after telling the victim why it's wrong to not stand up for themselves. It's been proven that proper corporal punishment is the most effective way of teaching children life lessons.

You hit Joe because he wouldn't share? You get a spanking from the teacher and then the parents at home. But not for just any reason. Being naughty doesn't beating the # out of your kid. Sending him/her to the quiet corner is what you should do in most instances where a spanking is too severe. You hit someone every day for years, of course that person is going to hate you and anyone like you. You hit them when they know what they are doing is wrong and they will remember that spanking a hell of a lot more then they will with just words.

And if someone shows consistently that they aren't fit for society either because they were born that way or they're mentally disturbed, you send them to a place where others like them are. And you keep them there until they can prove that they can play nice with others.

You wouldn't see so many sociopaths and psychopaths if teachers were allowed to do their jobs and tell the school if Sally shows all the signs of a chronic sociopath and ruins everyone's else day just to feel good. Or if John likes manipulating guys and girls and will con his way through any bull# if he thinks it'll help him, then John needs to go with Sally to a nice compound in the middle of Nebreska with all the rest of the people who don't play well with others.

Letting these kind of people run around with the rest of us is a stupid idea and you're probably one of those people who don't play well with others if you think I'm wrong. (sorry for the whole with me or against me thing but there is no logical reason for wanting to live with a sociopath or a psychopath)

Happens all the time and that public square is much bigger, it's in the news and it has to do with our elect and all the crazy stuff they do...doesn't seem to change the way they behave one bit...

Show me where it's proven

My wife's a teacher and has found that outsmarting them and making them look stupid in front of their peers to be much more effective.

Just saying

Before we can return to any type of "old-school" punishment, we have to look at WHY people are acting out. It begins with the example people are set by role models growing up. Bad parenting/bad father figures, or lack of a father figure altogether makes kids turn toward equally undisciplined peers, media and maybe teachers - teachers who do NOTHING to discipline for fear of getting sued. Media that glamorizes violence and the objectification of women. I could go on and on.

The problem is much deeper, my friend.

You know know what grinds my gears?

When i left school i knew where the lungs where inside a frog but i didnt know how to do my taxes or how a mortgage works.

Dont say "thats the parents job", without doing every lesson themselves how do they know what their kids dont know?

school is a joke and fails to prepare young people for life.

EDIT: oh also kids that arnt very good at math or poems, save them a few years of living off basic wage and train them to lay bricks and work metal.

Bad father figures or no father at all makes no difference. There are plenty of kids that grew up with single parents and they turned out just fine. It's the guidance they receive from the parent or guardian they do have that makes a difference.

I think in general, I am correct. There are always exceptions.

Tell you whut.

You discipline your kids the way that we're "supposed" to do.

I'll discipline mine the way we've done it for thousands of years. Honestly, we as humans have made it this far with corporal punishment, why stop now?

Aliensun, you are correct. Give the man a cookie.

We need to nip that # in the bud. Make it so you don't have to be a sociopath or psychopath in order to be successful. If everybody was a mostly well adjusted and mostly mentally stable individual, you wouldn't to worry abut whether the person in office respects you as a person and not a number.

I'm not saying we all need to get along, but there are some people in this world that hurt others because they have no concept of what is right and wrong or respect for others and are detrimental to society.

There are some things in life that men can only teach to other men. A woman does not understand how a man's mind works nor will a man understand how a woman's mind works. Men need to teach certain things to their kids that women just can't and vice versa. There are plenty of people who grew up just fine with a single parent, but there are many more who didn't and continuing the cycle.

We live in a culture that tries to pretend that 'consequence' doesn't exist. "participation trophies" are just the tip of the ice berg.

Then there is the fact that the government, as it struggles to uphold the liberal ideal of neutrality, is deathly afraid of accidentally fostering some sort of sectarian values. So, the only solution is to teach no values at all.

Listen to the screeching if you point out that unwed mothers avoid marriage, in order to maximize their welfare benefits. This causes liberals' heads to explode, because

1) They cannot accept that a child needs a positive father role-model.
2) They cannot allow a government to "pass judgment" or "legislate morality" onto the people who receive handouts.

Another example: the Boy Scouts were once the primary youth organization in the USA that taught physical fitness, civics, and general life skills. But they are banned from most schools and even public libraries or other public meeting places, because they affirm the individual boy's belief in the religion of their parents. Yep, that's too damn dangerous. The military knows that boy scouts still make better leaders, because they have practiced leading other boys; they have experience camping, and they are taught basic skills like CPR and emergency survival.

Most public schools wont even allow a boy scout to wear his uniform to school, since it would be "elitist" and It might imply that scouting has a positive consequence for some.

Give the man a round of applause.

All of this PC bull# is all about denying accountability.

Waaah, the criminals have rights too. Waaaah, guns r scary, let's ban them.
Waaah, the world is scary and I need the government to protect me so I'm going to obey every single word and law given to me by the government because I'm too much of a coward to stand up for myself.

Remember folks, only about 3-4% of the US population was involved in the Revolutionary War.
10-15% were loyalists who weren't afraid to brag about how much they loved Britain and the status quo despite all of the injustices they suffered from the Crown.

I'd say it's about 10% who support America and 40-50% who are the loyalists this time around. The fight will be hard aye, but a wise woman had a very good quote about this very thing.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Never doubt the patriotism of true red blooded Americans. They'll fight the good fight till there ain't no one left. Live free or die indeed

I couldn't agree more

My point was that beating kids just teaches them to resent.

Outsmarting them in front of of their peers teaches them to think.

"Violence begets violence."

Never laid a hand on my child.

Instead, we chose to use our brains to teach our daughter how to use hers.

She's now a happy, healthy, well-adjusted adult participant in society who knows how to utilize that thing between her ears before taking action.

But what about at home? What if it's just you and the kid you need to discipline. Keep in mind if you need to hit your kid after age 12, you done #ed up.

That's the age where words, irony, and appreciation of guilt comes into effect. When the kid can understand what he did wrong, yes go ahead and outsmart them in front of their peers. But it doesn't make any sense to scold a young kid who can't think in abstract concepts.

Violence begets violence?

If I was being a little # and knowingly disobeying my parents, they would spank me on the ass. Guess what? I learned to stop being a little # after about age 11. So did my two siblings. And almost every other kid in my school as well.

If my parents and the parents of my peers used tough love, it was only to make us ready for the big bad world. IF think that "using your words" and never using corporal punishment works on every child, you are sorely mistaken I'm afraid.

Maybe your kids were fine without it but there's a hell of a lot more that need it and never receive, thus growing up to be little #s.

What does pizza have to do with society being corrupted by a lack of discipline in the early developmental stages of a child?

And that doesn't sound like you have a gear to grind [insert witty comeback here]

cheese and pasta sauces go nuclear in the microwave.

Need to watch out for that, and if its a little gooey and doesnt have much water in it it wont steam much so you dont always get a nice steamy warning sign that what you are about to eat is lava.
