Bloody good show!

You might not be willing to say more people ought to be like that, but I say EVERYONE should be like that. When people seek to engage in serious criminal enterprise, it is the responsibilty of anyone who is physically capable of doing so, to stand against them, and seek to vanquish them utterly.

Leaving response to an unfolding situation at the feet of an organisation which takes between one minute and half an hour to respond to incidents, results exclusively in unacceptable outcomes. Only by people who see something happening that is clearly wrong, acting in defense of their neighbors, can anything meaninful be acheived with regard to crime prevention locally.

Whether you chase off three housebreakers with a stick, or chase jewel theives down the street armed with little more than a bad temper and a total disregard for anything other than pulling the bastards heads off, this is the sort of citizen action that proves most effective at preventing these sorts of crime. If theives knew that no matter where they chose to strike, they will be resisted, they would have a much harder choice to make when deciding whether or not to involve themselves in such things.

Once more, just to reiterate, if you see thugs breaking into houses, or robbing stores, forget the danger you are in for the moments at hand, and swear an oath to either get rid of the bastards by chasing them, or bludgeon them facially until they die from it. If everyone is Batman, then the Joker is screwed.

I love how many of these bad guy talk and act a hard line until in police custody then they cry like a baby.

Looks like they brought a hammer to a big stick fight.

These thugs are lucky the guy didn't have a gun! This is just one reason why armed civilians can make criminals think twice before they commit a crime.

France raised their security threat level as well.

It went from Run to Hide.

The 2 remaining levels are surrender and collaboration.

Are civilians in the UK allowed to use a firearm to defend their residence?

Well assuming they are one of the few people who are legally allowed to own one and keep one in the house, maybe. There are much fewer people who fall into that than there used to be before the bannings and the registrations and what have you.

Things are a little better these days, with regard to the law giving better support to people who stand against a robber, rather than just allowing the violation. However, using a gun to do your defence is legally shaky none the less, and the law prefers it when you go close quarters on the intruder, and mangle their faces with blunt instruments. It's an easier sell in court that the force was proportional, if you only use severe blunt force, or at worst, sharp force trauma as your main method of doing damage.

Most of the time burglars are only looking for easy, or unoccupied targets. Most who usually steal aren't looking for an assault charge, or murder, and almost all really, really don't want to be identified. So it's really no surprise one guy could chase off three others. Like I said, most of the time the criminal wants easy money. I will say with the three to one odds he did get pretty lucky to not get his butt handed to him!

Burglars like that are like wild animals.

Just make yourself look big and shout loudly and they will run away

Think they are trying to do more than break in, considering their behaviour they look like they were after someone in particular.

Edit: My bad that's the owner and i'm sure he was indeed particularly after them!

For the same reason the bank robber in Florida a few years back shot himself in the head accidentally during the robbery - Darwinism aka stupidity.

oh and they are French (j/k)

Many criminals are not known for making the best of decisions.

Actually wearing a high visibility vest can allow you to access certain places without becoming suspect it's also easily removed and dumped, which changes your description somewhat in a hurry.

Chances are if the fellow with the vest had also had a clipboard and had simply chapped the door, entry would have been made and the place turned over good and proper.

Well done to the fellow who went at them, you don't back down to these type of people!

But we are allowed guns, this year I'm working on my gun license. We can own shot guns (including pump action), .22 rifles and you can join gun clubs and shoot full bore rifles.

It's my dad's idea he wants to protect his home so we are joint a gun club
