Since when did 3 shot become "mass" shooting? Is the definition of "mass" by number of people shot or by the location these days (ie: public location, rather then a gang shooting or whatever)

Fox5 is reporting that multiple shooters, male and female, were seen headed into the Walmart, and that one of them has shot herself in the head. According to News3, a Metro police radio call at 11:50 am local time indicated that a man armed with a rifle and bullet-proof vest was shooting inside the Walmart at North Nellis and Stewart. Metro SWAT units entered the store at around noon, and the armor unit was deployed fifteen minutes later

I'd say their "war" will last less than one calendar day, if it hasn't already while I've been reading about it. Suicide by cop. That IS one way to check out of this wild ride. Just a mighty painful and cowardly way, IMO.

Multiple shooters that get claimed as one is what usually gets the crowd going. If this comes out as just being one person then sure they will start. Well it will start anyway but this one seems like some people that just snapped

Witnesses are horribly unreliable and the news is awful about trying to get the scoop. Won't be surprised if there is only one shooter and people freak out.

This just makes me want to get my CCW sooner rather than later!

Praying for all involved. Cannot imagine being in that type of situation and I hope to never be in one, either.

Since it was realized that putting "mass" in front of any incident involving a firearm stirred up excess fear and thus gained higher attention from those who read it, guaranteeing extra views/viewers.

More web hits for the news article.

More viewers watching it on TV, and for longer.

More stars and flags for the internet forum poster.

But its losing its meaning now... "mass" has lost what it used to mean, which was a very large, inordinate number. Really now all that "mass" means, is more than 1. Hell I wouldnt even put it past the sensationalist media to cry "mass shooting" with no deaths and only minor scratches on a couple people from impact shrapnel.

Its all about the perception of the incident, not about the truth of the incident.
