Just now came across this and thought I'd share with those who would like to see an over-view of the top 7 Secret Societies.
Makes a good reference.

You can read more about each one from the source link:
www.huffingtonpost.com...

Freemasons
The Freemasons are the longest-lasting secret society (that the general population is aware of) still in existence. They've become synonymous with secret handshakes, bizarre rituals and a hierarchy in which members move up through various levels as they gain experience and respect within the society.

Illuminati
Although the Illuminati originally branched off from, and broke away from, the Freemasons, they have since become a prime focus for conspiracy theorists, many of whom credit Illuminati agendas for every conceivable disaster, mystery, and economic downturn.

The Skull and Bones
Perhaps the least secret of all secret societies, the Skull and Bones Society at Yale University was founded by William H Russell in 1832. Originally called the Eulogian Club, the Skull and Bones boasts many prominent heads of state (including at least three presidents), captains of industry, and heads of covert agencies among its membership.

The Rosicrucians
Founded in the early fifteenth century by Christian Rosenkreutz, the Rosicrucians were purported to be using occult practices to bring about a global transformation. Two centuries later, the publication of three manifestos launched them into the popular consciousness.

Bilderberg
In 1954, the world's most influential movers and shakers met in a hotel to discuss and plan the coming year's global agenda. They have continued to meet every year, but the content of their talks has remained a zealously guarded secret.

The Elders of Zion
In 1920, a newspaper owned by industrialist Henry Ford ran a series of articles reprinting a Russian document called the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The document was quickly debunked as a hoax, but those articles were collected as a book, newly titled The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem. Adolph Hitler read the book, was influenced by it, and appropriated many of its ideas for himself.

The Knights Templar
Early in the twelfth century, nine knights took a vow to protect pilgrims traveling through the Holy Land. More knights joined the cause and the organization grew, gathering wealth, fame and power as their influence spread. Popular culture has cast them in the role of funders of many other secret societies and guardians of the most sacred Christian treasures.

All right, this is a record for me. Two posts and I'm completely lost.

We're talking about the most exclusive secret societies in history. Is the Order of the Garter a secret society?

Is the "Elders of Zion" even a society?

The Freemasons are exclusive? Further, they claim not to be a secret society, but "a society with secrets."

Does the College of Cardinals fit in? They have about 120 members at a time.

I don't think the Knights Templar were all that exclusive.

No precise numbers exist, but it is estimated that at the Order's peak there were between 15,000 and 20,000 Templars, of whom about a tenth were actual knights.

I still think the Protocols of the Elders of Zion wasn't written by a cabal, but did indeed influence Ford, the Thule society, the Klu Klux Klan revival, and, they are still debated today so that means something.

I would have to add Freemasonry is far from secret.
The true Templars and Rosicrucians...I dont know if they exist in their original teachings anymore.
The Illuminati sputtered out.

The 19th and 20th Centuries had their share of secret societies...
The Triads of China are even older and should be included.
But Ordo Templi Orientis, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the aforementioned Thule and Vril, the Sons of Liberty operated in secret...

It is the ones we DON'T know about that are truly secret. They exist. And we will not know of them, but may see their actions and not even realize it.

Ugh, i don't know if i like this article...I'm not sure on the veracity of some of the information, and the author even shamelessly plugs his own book, lol. Overall, the article only seems to have been authored for the sole purpose of promoting his book, as the rest of the article seems to be information regurgitated from wikipedia, mixed with the occasional jab at conspiracy theorists.

You'd think so, considering the Knights Templar were counted in his list...

I think the author just picked the more popular societies, as the article only seems to be a cheap one aimed at promoting his book.

Freemasons
A boring charity club anyone can join. Lost its secrets long ago.

Illuminati
Doesn't exist.

The Skull and Bones
A University frat house of little significance.

The Rosicrucians
A group of mail-order kooks.

Bilderberg
A politicians dinner and meet-up. Boring.

The Elders of Zion
Doesn't exist.

The Knights Templar
Don't exist anymore.

Huffington Post is clueless as usual.

To find the real stuff you must look beneath what they show the plebs.

I'm kind of confused as to why the Elders of Zion is even on that list. It's not a secret society nor exclusive.

I'm far more interested with and concerned about the societies we're not allowed to hear of.

I doubt any one that list are the most exclusive.
The most exclusive secret societies will be the ones who have never been mentioned on ATS or other similar sites.
Heck they are probably not even mentioned on the entire internet.
And I bet they are far more sinister than even the wildest claims about the freemasons or others on the OP list.

Those are absolutely not the most exclusive ones, by far. They are very much floating on the top of the secret soup

I found the information on Freemasonry to be dull and kind of lame, IMHO. As I have been a Freemason for the past (almost) 8 years now, I have seen the various groups and people that inhabit this organization. I have been Master of my lodge and I must say, the people who write these articles will never know the "Meaning of Masonry" (for my Hall fans
). The articles and clippings I see in the newspapers are just so.....dull to me now. Usually not even worth a read.

Illuminati - It exists and anyone who does not think the world is controlled is naïve to say the least!

The Skull & Bones - Has produced three US presidents and scores of other influential figures. The training ground for the Illuminati potential graduates.

The Rosicrucian's - Hiding many secrets that perhaps could lead to a new age

Bilderberg - A meeting of all the most influential (publicly) figures, who are strategically implementing the orders given by their bosses - The Illuminati!

The Elders of Zion - Agreed, doesn't physically exist, yet plans are implemented by those in power, to keep vast masses focused on hating the Jews (The Chosen Ones) Chosen scapegoats!

The Knights Templar - Still exists within the Swiss Banking, Political and Religious fraternities! Just look up where many of the Templars escaped too (Switzerland) the establishment of their country, banking empire, secrecy laws and flag!

No. Not everything is controlled by one group of people. There are countless competing streams, some of which dominate for some time, then recede and make way for a new fulcrum.

No. Ivy League Universities produce Presidents, not frat houses.

No. The original Rosicrucians were alchemical quacks. The modern ones are a mail-order cult.

No. B-Celeb second tier has-beens having a little informal meetup does not amount to "Illuminati world domination"

What about the Vril Society?
There is almost no public information about them although to my understanding they heavily influenced a lot of powerful people including Hitler.

To me a true secret society would be very hidden from the public Such as the Vril and Thule societies, which I very rarely hear anything about, but their influence and reach can still be seen.

"There are two secret societies that have been working in unison - the Thule Gesellschaft and the Vril Society. Those who know anything at all about how Hitler rose to power have heard about them both, because they influenced the political climate in Germany behind the scenes and were the forces that helped bringing The Führer to power."

black.greyfalcon.us...

I do not have any "valid" links to share as there seems to be very little about them on the internet... That is what makes me feel like they are a true secret society.

Here is the link to the main Thule webpage which I find very interesting.

No that is just your opinion and you are wrong, no matter how much you shout!

I will just make one point to prove it, you quote that the Bilderberg is just a meet up for B-celebrities???? Really??? So please explain why this annual meeting was kept so secret for decades and that no participant can speak about the talks and agenda's at the meeting??? Why are millions of dollars spent on security to frighten people away? Why are future PM's and Presidents in attendance and the top business people, bankers and politicians attending??? B-Celeb's, we are not talking Paris & Nicole here are we???

The Ivy league may be responsible for producing top business leaders but it is frightening how many powerful influential people are/were members of skull & bones!!!

William Averill Harriman - Class of 1913 - Nazi financier
Prescott Bush - Class of 1916 - Nazi financier, father of President Herbert Walker Bush
Henry Luce - Class of 1920 referred to as Baal by his fellow Bonesmen - founder of Time magazine
McGeorge Bundy - Class of 1940 referred to as Odin by his fellow Bonesmen
President George Herbert Walker Bush - Class of 1948
John F. Kerry - Class of 1966 Presidential Candidate and current Secretary of State
George W. Bush - Class of 1968
Stephen A. Schwarzman - Class of 1969 - Blackstone Investments =, came to prominence under Dubbya's term in office, SEC documents reveal he was making $1 Million a day!
Austan Goolsbee - Class of 1991 - Under Barak Obama At 41, he is one of the youngest Chairmen of The Council of Economic Advisor's in the history of The White House

That is just a few, many more can be named. I repeat Skull & Bones is the training ground and not just a 'frat' as you describe!
