If you look on the Forum page, where the Board stats are kept, you will see that well over a million topics have now been posted on this site.
What a landmark!
There's something a little ironic about this discovery.
Back in February, I was alerting members to the fact that the thread which would be numbered as "one million" was about to appear on the horizon;
ATS thread One Million
There was an aloof response from the management, to the effect that this was not a very significaant moment, because the number included all the
behind-scenes threads, the staff discussions, the alerts.
They would rather wait until the millionth public topic appeared, as defined on the Board stats page, and celebrate that instead. That would be a
major landmark, and big things would happen.
Well, the millionth topic has evidently been posted, at some point in the last couple of weeks.
But where was the celebration?
Where were the drums, the trumpets, the flag-waving, the fireworks, the razzamatazz?
The millionth thread, by either definition, is a major symbol of the achievement of this site, something to be proud of.
At the very least, it proclaims the fact that ATS has a substantial history with a full and active membership, who can always find new things to write
about.
What do you say, folks? Shall we have a party?
Is it going to be "Knock three times on the ceiling", or "Twice on the pipes"?
