Bicycles are a smart mode of transportation, as long as you are fit and able. No gas, diesel or batteries required. Just enough fuel for you, the pedal pusher.

Carry a few spare parts and tools for repair...and you are off.

I will most likely tune in as I have always been interested in survivalist techniques.

Police Auctions - Military Tactical Gear
Don't show this to Garth, he will out-bid us all!!
The sporting goods section has "survival"...a duffle-bag has $1 bid right now.
They may have bicycles occassionally...real cheap.

I've yet to be able to 'hear' one of these shows due to the time zone difference. The announced topics have a real personal appeal for me. I hope this show continues long enough for me to make one live.

You guys can plug one for me and talk about how scary it is to face some Joe wielding a bicycle chain in self defense.

Snarl, I will see what we can do!

I know 'live' is better, but you can always go listen to the rewinds. But do try to make it when you can.

I certainly will try to join you, but I'm not too sure about the bicycle in the wilderness scenario, but that's why I should tune in, right?

Bike-packing, I was wondering when we would get there. It's been quite awhile since I had a sling for my bike and saddlebags on it - Got to sling-carry the bike from time to time when things are only passable on foot but it can be comfortable enough for short distances, and although the bike's packs can be a bit awkward for a long carry it's nice to let the bike do most of the packing most of the time. I still ride a mountain bike around the neighborhood, but that's mostly for evening taco runs or out for a breakfast smoothie. Just hoping that is all the rugged it needs to get, but nice to be ready for the worse.

I wonder if trailers would hinder or help this scenario?

Hey guys I'm here & excited about the show. I haven't taken a trip
so to say on me bike...but then I have. I did the AIDS ride 2 yrs
in a row from northern San Fransisco to Los Angeles...575 miles.

I trained on the fire trails...so a mountain bike is extremely beneficial
as far as I'm concerned. Looking forward to another great show!

Cheers

So, far it's alot of fun with some good survival information and, most of all, actual personal experiences.

For a very long distance journey, I would expect that the trailer would be an advantage.

You would just have to learn your limits on packing it, and practice with a full pack for your endurance.

That is what makes us unique. We talk from the heart, and from experience with our personal preferences. There is usually something that everyone can relate to.

We get to the nitty gritty of the subject.
