Yah, I don't buy it. A young 22 y/o male. Drives a BMW. College student. If he's got a problem getting laid or picking up a woman, even for just a while, I'm thinking it's because he's got major issues and has himself to blame.

I mean come on. He said he never kissed a girl and also claims to have tried repeatedly to get a girlfriend. It's not that hard I don't care who you are. You can find someone. This selfish, Narcissist probably set his sights way too high and wouldn't settle for someone who'd give him the time of day because he felt he deserved only the best choices.

Or just get a professional if you've got money!!

Seriously this idiot was his own problem and he snapped over something millions of other men have gone through without killing people over it. Get a grip. Grow a pair and deal with life's ups and downs.

Spoiled brat had it too good and when it wasn't that easy everywhere has a pitty party and kills people. Lame!!

What a way to justify your murderous rampage, make a video and blame your problems on all of humanity

It's always the fault of someone else. Isn't that what we see in today's world. His parents will probably sue the world.

The BBC are reporting:

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said the shootings occurred at several sites in Isla Vista, and there were nine crime scenes.

He also told local media police were investigating possible links to a YouTube video entitled Elliot Rodger's Retribution, which shows a young man complaining about years of rejection by women.

I recently shared with my brother a common complaint that I am hearing from co-workers and even around the internet. It seems more parents are complaining about unusual and troubling behavior being displayed by their children The pre-teens and early teens seem to be the ones that the parents are referencing, but I think that is only because that is the age group were the parents are more interactive in their child’s life. Teens and older, have their own group of friends and their social landscape doesn’t involve their parents as much.

The biggest complaint is their children seem to be withdrawing from them. The don’t listen and frequently break the family and house rules, but most troubling is that no form to punishment seems to be effective. They are often belligerent, angry, and sometimes hostile, and take no responsibility for their actions. They are demanding and often speak of entitlements. They often blame the parents for all their problems because they didn’t “ask to be brought into this world”. Some of the parents stated that their children are all about drama, and behave as if they are speaking or playing to a camera, or making a you tube video.

I think we are raising a new generation of children that are deficient in social skills. We are becoming the “I Robot” society; where all communication is done by an electronic connection. Most people are plugged into their cell phones 24/7. Children even when physically together in a social setting still are engaged with their devices and not with each other.

There is nothing social about the so-called “social media.” You can’t be more isolated then to be trapped behind a screen, without the ability to actually see, touch, taste, smell and engage physically with your surroundings. It is becoming even worse, now that children no longer have to go to a college campus to get an education. Some places allow you do it all online.

Our children are growing up in a cyber, virtual world, that they are making in their own minds. They are drifting further and further away from reality. People are so quick to talk about how much they love their children, and they will do anything for them. Hell, I had a person tell me, right here on ATS, that if TSHTF, they would have no hesitation in killing me, and taking my property, to provide for and save their children. Yet the biggest threat to all of our children and us, is this great disconnect we have brought into our homes and placed in the hands of our children.

I hear people say too often that they don’t know what to do. It may not be the total solution, but the first thing I would do is, take away the cell phones, the computer, the video games and the TV. I would then restore social grace in my family and make time to be with my family as a family. If it is no more than a daily walk in the park or along the beach; I would spend time talking and “listening” to my children. I would make it clear that outside of a life or death emergency, family time will not be interrupted. If cell phones are required or needed, the simple, it rings, you answer or leave a voice message variety, is the only type of phone allowed. You don’t have to worry about texting and driving, which kills so many people, especially teens, if the phone doesn’t have texting capability. We are ready to steal and kill for our children but we don’t love them enough; or is it we are not brave enough, to say “no” and to take the kryptonite out of their hands, and out of our homes.

This young man was doing way more than making a cry for help. He is placing a clear explanation of cause and effect right in our faces. Are we so blind that we can’t, or refuse to see?

Stepping down from the soapbox.
Moving along.

His actions were not justified but i can understand the logical process behind it.

Many people called that guy a loser, right ?

This guy is guilty, we all agree on this, but what make people think he is a loser ?

A loser because in a superficialy society like ours, we promotes muscular ,brainless football players as the pinnacle of of society, we promote brainless models.

So here is the result, you get a frustrated guy, going on a rampage, because he feel rejected constantly,by girls who only look for brainless hulking idiots.

Let's not forget all the young girls who look up to the Miley Cyrus types in the world. There's a role model if there ever was one.

I did wonder, but our American and Australian cousins on here are generally quite a worldly bunch.

Plus I've had to google up on loads of American 'stores' such as Trader Joes to get a clue about what is going on in some threads

Where does 'compared to China' come from? Why do we compare ourselves to China. Who are you people who want us to become China? Are you part of the Oligarchy?

This has got to stop.

100% agree

I see people calling that guy a loser.
What i see is a young man who needed help, love, probably.

But no, we see him like a loser.

I bet most people around him saw him the same way , makin him feeling worthless even more.

Must be good to feel loved, accepted.

But how does it feel to be constantly rejected ?

You dont fit the standards ?
you're a loser..
You're not muscular ?
You're a loser
You're not a model?
you're a loser
oh, you're actually smart?
you're a pathetic nerd.

Ya but you know the difference. The other hundreds of millions of other people who also aren't models also had to live through it and none of them snapped and killed innocent people for it.

So if society didn't break all of them, then I'm guessing this guy was his problem and not the society he lived in. Not saying it doesn't help give you a push, it certainly does.

But if you aren't already walking toward the cliff yourself, it takes more to push you off. The rest of society has to fight back against the push every day. All of us included.

Besides all that. I'm not judging the guy on the fact that he couldn't handle it. Life sucks, we all have our breaking point, some just take more before they break. But he didn't have to take out innocent people for it. If he's going to give up, fine, but don't be taking innocent people out too. That just makes all reasons given as to why Life Sucks even worse. Because you know what else sucks besides not getting a girlfriend??? Having some douche bag kill your innocent friend/daughter/son/etc. because he said Life Sucked!!!

I do agree, im not validating his action, but i understand the logical process leading his mind to the actions
Understanding the process doesnt mean i agree with the actions created by the process itself.

Hmmm not so sure it's that simple. There are hundreds of thousands of monks, nuns, vicars and priests in this world and they aren't hauling weaponry into public places and killing people.

Well, if it is a voluntary celibacy lifestyle, it is a practice called sexual transmutation, that energy is then feeding their religious practice.
Simple.

When the sexual transmutation goes wrong we have examples of pedophilia and other deviant acts.

Make prostitution legal?

It is legal in many places around the world.
Yes, the US should make it legal. Absolutely.

I'm against it, but why make criminals out of peoples own Choices ? Usually prostitution is a victimless crime.
I say usually because of course of organized crime/ pimps ...
