A Lurker speaks up (sort of) and says thanks...

We got the following late last night via the Contact ATS email, I thought it was good enough to share because it illustrates how important this site is to millions of people around the world.

I have never joined ATS. But I wanted to thank all those members that search for the facts. I have learned to question, to look between the lines. You have amused me at times and educated me always. Over the years some of those "theories " have become fact. I always leave the door open to the possibility that what seems impossible may later become true.

So you have had a hand in the person I am today. I like to think there are many more like me than you know. Silent on the outside looking in. But learning every day. So Thank You to all those ATS posters. You keep my mind open to the impossible.

I know I did!

That's pretty awesome. I read here for a bit before I joined and felt the same thing about a lot of what I read. I was staggered by the amount of information, the content itself, and the minds that brought all that to the forefront. I understand how "The Lurker" feels completely.

I know that not everyone wants to join and take part in the discussion here and that some are perfectly happy to lurk unto eternity, but I would like to extend my hand in welcome to the person who wrote this. We can always use more valuable members here for sure, and I hope they aren't not joining in for any other reason than they just prefer to read. I am sure I'm not alone when I say that their contribution would be more than welcome here.

Knowledge is a powerful thing. It's good to see that there are still people willing to soak it up at every opportunity.

yeah, its difficult to explain to non writer reader types why we put so much effort into righting and reading ourselves.
the email in the OP does as good a job as any I've seen

my father was ( as many ancestors were ) a soldier who volunteered and fought for a moral stance
he always said the pen is mightier then the sword :

I've always thought the label "Lurker" sounds kind of dark and creepy, hehehehe.

I think we should call them "Silent Observers"

That way we can call them SO for short, and remind everyone that SO is watching.......

Glad that we know of one person who this site has helped. ATS really IS chock full of info, ideas, and interesting people.
