For all of us believers, Can we do one another, and the UFO community a favor by thinking and doing a bit of research into our posts before putting them onto the ATS wall and throwing doubt on the UFO phenomenon?

Am I the only one that finds this act of "knee-jerk" posting harmful to the real UFO debate?

-Do these obviously fake videos do us a disservice?

Do you, dear reader, know that your love for ufos, to the point of posting bunk, is an act of disinformation?

Or do you believe that anything thrown at us will be believed? Like, we're all stupid?

hmmm..

i totally agree that posting fake video's is'nt helpful for the subject.
There are a few easy steps for checking before posting...
if a video is more than a day old its probably already been posted here.
Just go to the forum and look at the most recent threads to see if its already there.
Check the Youtube uploader's channel to see what his other video's are like. If there's mainly CGI video's there then...

I have noticed that people don't bother with the search engine on here, or to even go to the UFO Forum section, click "new" and scroll through the latest threads to see if there upcoming thread has already been discussed.

Example:

As you can see it isn't hard for people to do, if your topic is unfound, then bingo create one.

It keeps the debunkers up to date and trained, and those who hasn't learned to debunk.

So it's a little good

I almost posted it myself, but luckily I found it in the search engine.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone who hosts one of those hoax video pages like thirdphaseofmoon or whatever sets up bs accounts here just to start threads with the hoaxed video just so people will link to their stupid site and give them ad money

It isn't really a matter of using the search function, it's about throwing garbage at us and expecting us to eat it.

It's like me posting a thread about a mass shooting say, without doing research just because i saw it on some teenagers blog and expecting you all to take it as the real deal, but guess what, it's fake, it's a lie.

The Taliba UFO is one of many obviously fake videos, it doesn't take much research to know that.

My frustration comes from the fact that many times the poster KNOWS that it is fake. But hey I'm dumb and gullible so whatever right?

This dissapoints me..

100% with you on this one. I think ATS staff should be tougher about this issue, but it will make ATS less commercially viable.

I think it's more in our hands, making interesting and good threads to fight back the cheap crap poisoning ATS.

Maybe we could extend this argument to all of the rocks on mars, dots in the sky, night vision videos, alien puppet videos, chinese lantern videos, balloons in Mexico, bugs in spots lights at football games, camera recording lights reflected in windows, spirals crated by missile launches gone wrong, rc copters, solar balloons, birds flying in formation , planes coming into land, LED kites, satellites, the international space station, pixel anomalies on solar recordings caused by radiation, debris floating around the space station..etc etc

TBH ive never seen a UFO video that i didn't think was a mis identification or fake.

I have to agree, for the most part the community acts as a crucible for destroying BS.

Fakes get spotted near instantaneous, and for the most part even ridiculed.

Its what makes a video that is genuinely hard to explain even better, as the people here are looking for any reason to tear a fake apart.

I don't understand this ad money business, most people have adblock installed, so they're making no money off adverts from most.

While there may be some small organizations like MUFON there is no overarching control group for UFO video releases to catch and remove hoax videos. Never will be either.

Nothing we can do about it. Just go on as usual.

Some of them are intentional trolls some are just not so clued up and new to the UFO community and are only just getting to grips with the idea of UFOs spotting a fake can be quite difficult these days are we to enforce laws where by noobs are not aloud to speak on the subject... No I don't think that's are place to say or do... Instead educating them further on the matter politely IMO is the way forward, raising awareness to this issue of clueless believers is just as important so...carry on I guess

The only way to bring any substance back to ATS, No YouTube videos allowed. 98% of threads start out with one, and its tiring. The amount of YouTube videos on ATS is TOO DAMN HIGH!

The new age movement which has evolved in last 15 years has hurt ufology. The incredible stories made up by exo ufo political movements and its new age movements has completely confused all efforts of any serious research into Ufos.

Maybe theres a bigger picture to this!... ufo enthusiasts will scrutinise, research this kind of footage but an average reader would barely read the whole article and most would just watch the video.
What if this is a sort disclosure project designed to condition the public. I remember watching a documentary about it and slow conditioning through movies etc has been happening for decades according to the documentary. Its surprising to see so many suggestive articles in mainstream media and adverts in the last say 5 years.
Just a thought... After all reading the daily mail today online it ultimately lead me here at ats to register and reply to this post.

Honestly the way I see it is this:

People want to believe to the point of accepting anything and everything. Generally they're the type that call skeptics "sheeple"
Even when they know deep inside that the video that they just posted is bunk.
They want to spread their message, but don't realize that posting someones college CGI project is harming the cause.

Does it make sense? Maybe.

Maybe it's attention seeking?
All I know is that serious UFO discussion and thread posting here and on many other forums is awash with serious garbage. It's a shame, it maintains the stigmas that are associated with ufology.
Problem being is that they probably think they're championing the phenomenon, they're actually degrading it.

Let me see if I understand, you guys can't find one credible ufo report (video or eyewitness) yet you believe there is a reason to keep looking? Does that mean you are just being optimistic of something you claim has no credible proof? Are there any specific accounts you believe?

It is not the videos..it is the gullible believers that are willing to believe anything put out there.

The fake videos are being made because there is a group bright eyed believers that question nothing.

There are a ton on here.
