haha...back in the late 70's a Piper Tri Pacer couldn't make Meadowlark and landed on Bolsa. People were pissed and yelling as they drove by and I remember my Dad making sure I knew the pilot deserved a medal.

I also laughed after I watched it a couple of times when I realized he also managed to land with the light. Now THAT takes skills.

This guy definitely deserves a medal. This could have been a disaster if he had screwed up at all. Putting it down and stopping it the way he did was an amazing bit of flying.

If you've never listened the Kennedy Steve ATC videos then I highly recommend them. He's funny as hell.

Love the ATC stuff! Sometimes when i got spare time off and the familiy is asleep late at night i find myself popping a cold one or just having a glass of wine listening to funny or dramatic ATC recordings.

Regarding the christmastree helo recovery on page 4 my first and only reaction was "man, that is one dude skilled at 3D/compositing work" and i would have stayed with it until stumbled across this clip..

Engine failure. The engine exploded at full power and took the wing with it.
