Firstly, let me congratulate everyone for keeping this debate civil so far

From a first person i.e. a gay person perspective, I see it like this;

When it comes to genetics, mother nature is a little creative when it comes to making copies of the same two parents. In fact the variations can be huge.

I am one of four boys in our family. We all have the same mum and dad, yet line us up and we are all totally different in both look and personality. I'm shorter and stockier than everyone else, some of us have green eyes, some of us brown. Three of us are dark haired and one of us, like our one sister is blonde.

You would think that logically the same parents providing the same dna mix would produce the same result, other than gender every time they procreate, but they don't. Line us up and you can see the family resemblance, yet we are very different too.

So based on this, homosexuality is probably just a random epigenetic thing that pops up from time to time. Lots of random and unexpected traits can pop up when we procreate, gayness is but one of them.

Well...guess it's time for me to tell you. I think the 12 apostles were one of the first gay men's clubs. Nothing wrong with that either. The Greeks also had an open attitude about homosexuality.

If you are gay and not comfortable with coming out then please don't but I wonder if any gay people have any thoughts on this?

If it is offensive I apologize and don't mean it to be.

It's not offensive, but I love women and am straight.

But one doesn't have to be gay to recognize the ignorance some of the posts contained.

Wouldn't that mean there are thousands upon thousands of non-reported abductions?

Isn't that's what's been happening in Alaska and over in Russia?

From The LA Times
"Richard Hills was one of 3,323 people reported missing in the state last year, not a record but far higher, relative to population, than anywhere else in the country. On average, 5 of every 1,000 people go missing every year, roughly double the national rate. Since Alaska began tracking the numbers in 1988, police have received at least 60,700 reports of missing people."

Can't find a link for Russia, but I had a Alaska Resident tell it happens there as well.

I think you are spot on!! Of course there will be a gay gene. It will be a mutated version of something.

Mother nature works in mysterious ways (god stole that line for himself)

Having a population of gay people is self destructive eventually and having them increase in number is a sure fire way of culling the human race.

If it is not mother nature, it could be a gene stimulated by an external manipulator!!

Hi Ricky, as for certain types of food consumption, have you ever considered the addition of Bovine Growth Hormone in Meat and Dairy? These are Female Hormones and are in just about everything. Also The use of Birth Control Pills, these are also hormonal and both of these have been in use for the last 40 to 50 years. Just a thought

I think that the overriding question should be... 'Why do men have nipples?'.

Answer that and you have natures' most amazing truth.

because we all start out as female in the womb, at some point sex is determined , what becomes overies in a girl, drop down and become the balls on a guy, etc etc.

Yes, Know about those. But birth control is not given to men nor is it fed to the foods we eat. Now this make some women really feminine. Probably something thought up by men.

We may think some of the things happening are just random yet they may be structured. There are other ways to make pills to control pregnancy yet someone chose a way that would make women more hormone driven. Maybe the scientist. maybe a horny guy or a woman who liked to be feminine, came up with this was trying to help out his fellow MAN. This may be a conspiracy, but it may have been just someone's alternative reason to choose this system.

Could this be possible in a man dominated world? Who knows.

Thanks for your input. Are any of your siblings gay? If not that kind of supports what of the other members theories of large families and genetics.

I was just posting that in general and didn't mean to come off as if asking if you individually were gay. I accidentally hit reply to you instead of reply to thread. Sorry for the confusion.

I had no idea that the amount of missing people is so high there. I would imagine though a large number of that is people getting lost in the wilderness no?

A few questions, do you like pirates? Most of them had a long time only themselves and each other... and wouldn't have considered to be part of any stereotype you have in mind when you think of "gay-guys".
"Aaaaargh!" shouting wooden legs stomping, bearded, loud men, how do they fit in your gay gene alien abduction?
Or the Greeks, they gave their boys teachers and believed the only true love can be found between two men, aliens?
Also: Bonobos? Everybody is #ing everybody and nobody asks what sex. How would they fit?
And me, I did have sex with women, but never was in love with one. Am I a half-abductee, or how is that working in your world?

The missed point is that a bit of the opposite sex (more or less) remains within us throughout our lives.

No they do not!

Females are XX (homogametes)
Males are XY (heterogametes)

The gametes from each contributor are ultimately haploid, females contibute the X and males contribute either the X or Y.

Excuse me if i missed a joke though

I don't think you read the whole thread. I was saying I thought it was a mother nature/evolution thing. Someone else pointed out aliens and I was asking.
