Wish I could go, but I have to work all weekend.

Maybe the fall trip

Can't wait to see what you find

I don't know if its been mentioned but the best place to view the brown mountain lights is from an overlook on nearby hwy 181 just north of Morganton, NC. I'm a long time resident of NC and very familiar with the area as I go hiking in the mountains nearly every weekend. I even tried spying on the lights myself but so far no luck. Best of luck to you ... hope you get some great pics or footage

edit: I've heard the fall is the best time to see them but I have no idea how accurate that is. Also I've always wondered how often they appear because it is about 1.5 hour drive for me and I've wondered just how many nights I would have to sit and stare before I saw them. I'm convinced they do appear though - just so many witnesses - wish I could see them first hand ...

Homer, How the Hell are Ya? I'd love to make the journey, but low funds and a ride that I cannot have faith in are stopping me from coming. I do hope You ALL are Safe and have a good time though Bud! Hopin' you guys see some kool lights, and maybe even enjoy a visit from some off-World Entities! Would be a Blast!!
Safe Journeys to ALL who are attending. And Best of Good Luck and Health to You all for the Duration!!!!!!

I live on the coast of NC, I've only been to the mountains once (Black Mountain/Asheville) and I love it there. I really wish I could move out there some day... lol

Anyway, I'd head out there again if I had the money but right now I'm stuck by the sea until I can get my loans paid off. =/

Sherlock is quite correct.... the lights are best seen from a distance

What's the chance of a light orb floating over the campsite you have that particular night ?? next-to-ZERO !!

what needs to be done is a series of distant viewed movement of the lights...
then correlate that side-view of the lights with an 'above view' by using a parallax (2 camera view) of the objects
so that a pathway or corridor might be established to go and actually campout for a 48-72 hour period with a array of cameras/individuals placed on a wider corridor that sort of follows the tracked lights from before.

a plan needs to be made... a systematic array of observation cameras needs to be placed where the 'lights' are most likely to be captured on film/pixels

maybe the June outing I could make--- but not the May 3rd one
I hung out at Morganton back in '68 till I went to myrtle beach for a birthday & revisited the town in '71...stop by Roscoe's they got that mayberry rfd thing going on there with a wheel of cheese that the local good-ole-boys slice a hunk from & jack-jaw about racing & hunting & stuff (mostly dirt track racing with their own engineered vehicles)

My buddy from Charlotte says there is a circle in the ground or a circular "spot"around there and its been there a long time and nothing grows in the circle, he says the story is that if you camp in the circle you may wake up outside of the circle. He camped in the circle and nothing happened though. Then I just read about abductions gone wrong in Peru and hostile aliens skinning people possibly and now Im kinda scared to go camp there. Not that I think Im going to get abducted but you never know about the power of mass consciousness, who better to abduct than interesting people. I was thinking about what the real mental reality of remembering an abduction would be like. Especially if it wasn't a smooth semi conscious but rough and aggressive kinda thing and the poking and prodding really hurt but like a shot, it doesn't hurt after a few minutes so you forgot it hurt. Travis Walton sure didn't seem to like what he experienced and I believe him/them.

sounds like a embellishment of the Power Wheels....
I ran into several out in AZ... but nothing happened... the most forceful impression I ever got was when on a day-trip to Sedona
we were walking the trail along the Slide-Rock park area where water enthusiasts can sneak a dip into the shallow stream which has a smooth-as-a-sliding-board bottom,,, there around 7AM in the bushes I was chanced to be in the exact position to see the glint of sunlight break into the canyon and reflect a dazzling crystal of radiance from a frozen drop of water which hung on a single leaf on a bush... it was almost Blinding in Its' refracted/reflected brilliance... a very Epiphany Moment for me

I'm in Wilmington...we may try...damn, wish I knew sooner.
I head up a paranormal group in my spare time...here in the Cape Fear area "Raven's Eye Paranormal"...this would be awesome to add to the stash....

We could always join forces later on another investigation...it's about that time of year to check out the Ft. Fisher Hermit bunker...the first time I went...we were looking for a ghost and ended up with a UFO/USO thing.
Also...the cemetary in Downtown Wilmington...great time of year.
Wilmington is just awesome...no lack of places to investigate, that's for sure...I'm not even on the subject of cryptozoology yet...we have lot's of "monsters" hanging around here too.

High wierdness in Wilmington...but we have movies too...LOTS of them. Not to brag or nothing, but we did have IRONMAN III...and we have Under the Dome and Sleepy Hollow filming as we speak...about five miles from me now...

plus, countless others.

However...there IS a union...always have been, North Carolina's tax incentives is what brought Hollywierd...the only GOOD thing that Bev Purdue has done. It has done WONDERS for my fair port city...which is now the IDYLLIC little town shown in just about every Hollywierd movie that portrays an idyllic little town. Now I just wish that some of the filming would lighten up...I feel like I live in a back lot...

A few months ago, I walked into the courthouse to pay a ticket...I walked back out of the courthouse and directly onto the set of Sleepy Hollow...

I go to classes downtown at the community college...seems to be another set.
So is everyplace I'd get coffee...
The hospital is another set...
My son goes to school on a movie set...Laney High School (also the high school of Michael Jordan)...Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, Every Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson movie that was in town like Journey to the Center of the Earth...one and two...some movie with Dennis Quaid, Eastbound and Down (that show was filming EVERYWHERE!)...another movie with Susan Sarandon and Melissa McCarthy was filming right behind my house.

The Crow (orginal with Brandon Lee) was shot downtown too.

Sorry...this is about Brown Mountain...
I doubt I'll make it to this shin-dig...but I'm definitely up for a collaboration down the road.

Keep us posted.

Devil's circles are really just rings of fungus.
They've also been called fairy circles.

It's only been determined recently however...so I guess the legend will live on a bit longer.

Hey guys, I'm still at home, I'm not going to be able to make this weekends trip I set up
I have MAJOR family drama going on and cannot get away, I wish I could, the aliens come and abduct me away from here LOL
I know alot of people wanna come at a later date, so lets plan on a later date, where we can rent a few camping sites, and go to the places we want to investigate. Maybe we can get Matt to show up as well.
So that being said, whats a good date for the MAJORITY of ATSers can come?
We can make this an official ATS meetup!!!
This time, any drama will be put on hold for a weekend

Homer, sorry to see the trip cancelled/put on hold. I'm liking a June trip possibly. My 22 yr anniversary of being married to CCBears is on the 20th of June......

Hope all the Home Drama, which I have my share of here, is over or at least you are being able to keep it at bay......
Later Bud, Syx.

Could be this?

"I remember a talk about North
Carolina and a strange, strange pond
You see the sides were like glass
In the thick of a forest without a road
And if any man's ever made that land
Then I think it would've showed"

I'm posting so I can reference back in my post listings.

When the next trip comes up ... I want to know about it.
With my health I probably can't get there, but you never know.
