According to the post, the hornets' nest had fused with a wooden statue that had been in the shed.

Fortunately for this family, the nest had been abandoned. Walking into a shed full of angry hornets is the only thing that would make discovering this even worse! LOL
www.huffingtonpost.com...

Earlier this week, user CountBubs posted a photo, which he said his dad found in a shed that hadn't been opened in several years. Imagine stumbling on this unexpectedly:

I think the hornets were trying to weave it a vest. S&F for the interesting article.

Personally I think the statue itself is stranger than the hornet nests that are covering it. But then again I've never liked statues at all.

Who knew hornets were artists? They'd probably wear sandals with socks and drive Subarus if they could.

I have a side shed that I have not entered for several years. Mostly hubby's old car stuff, but quite a few of my picture frames and a couple of boxes of my....? I forget. I'm sure it's important stuff, though.
We get a lot of those nests around here. I will never know what is in those boxes now......

* Going shopping for new picture frames now*

( And here I thought your 'Spider' tread was as bad as it gets......

It's better than some of the "art" here in San Francisco. He should sell the thing and make a fortune. Call it "Hornet Performance Art" or something.

It still gives me the heebee jeebies.

I think nature is wonderful, the best artist: look at the beautiful patterns on the nest and how amazing the way it fused to the wooden statue. I know hornets can be dangerous, but this nest is beautiful......so delicate and pretty it actually looks Photoshopped.

Just look around you, mother nature is the greatest artist.

Thanks for sharing this!
