Yesterday NYPD requested citizens send images of themselves with police officers via Twitter. It was a Twitter photo contest aimed at building a good image of the police. It backfired in an epic way being flooded with images of police brutality...

Do you have a photo w/ a member of the NYPD? Tweet us & tag it #myNYPD. It may be featured on our Facebook.

Far two many photos to show here. Click on link below for more images or hashtag it in Twitter.

This to a victory for awareness, and a loss for propaganda. I hope your day was made better by this event making it clear that masses of people continue to grow in awareness, exponentially, and that we are shaping a future for ourselves, free of violence and coercion. - See more at: theantimedia.org...

Without context those images are meaningless. For all we know that black guy being carried off with off his head on PCP and had just hatchet-ed some old lady and was going for someone else.

Yep

Context is everything here. Although I am sure some of these are OTT policing, without the context it does not really help.

That being said, it's still a backfire.

Yes I agree. Any photo by itself does not say much. The response the NYPD got does say something however. Many people are evidently aware that there is excessive police violence. It shows that the relationship the police have with people could be a lot better...
