the seven deadly sins had nothing to do with our downfall, no more than it is Loki's fault or Lord Vader's. Humans need to stop pushing the blame onto a mythical creature(s) and instead pull themselves up by the boot straps.

Well said. Personal responsibility is an essential part of a happy fulfilling life. Each generation has it's challenges and opportunities.

We are animals that can think to the point to create a culture and society (as far as we know). When have we ALL ever been GOOD? Most countries were created with war, go back in time and see how we treated and did to that fine-looking woman next door.

I was watching a documentary called... something or other Fishhead. It said that there are a lot of people in power who might be sociopaths (since the very nature of that disorder creates power-hungry people who are far better suited to the grab and take nature of rising in power). Its quite possible that sociopaths have been in control for years without us knowing it.

I am currently a Whistleblower for Child Abuse - I have made it to the highest court in Australia - the Federal Circuit Court of Human Rights. I cannot get mainstream media and/or journalists to report on what I have a achieved.

I am a woman - a teacher (and former police officer) from a country/rural/farming community - who made it to a Federal Court (represents the entire nation of Australia) as an unrepresented applicant - which means I had no money for legal representation.

I can tell you all about how messed up the world is - in 2011 - I reported Child Abuse exactly as per my professional and legal obligation and not only did I have my life destroyed but I had to FIGHT to protect Children.

Ask yourself people - what kind of society do we live in when a person has to FIGHT to protect Children. Can someone explain that to me?

Much Peace - Amanda

Might be?

Most of the ones at the very top are there for a reason, and it's not because they're well liked. Not the local bosses who you see everyday, but the one's at the very top of things who you don't hear about much.

Don't hate them, feel bad for them. No other niche in society fits them. If they were down here with us they would have had their a**es kicked a long time ago because they don't know how to behave. Just go about your business and don't worry about what they have or what they do. They're not like us and we're the majority. They don't matter.

The history of humanity is basically nonstop genocide/war. That being said; anyone who isn't at least a little disgusted with the state of society today probably isn't a well adjusted person.

There is so much wrong. But there is still a lot to be happy about. It isn't all bad news. Granted people and countries have been crappy to each other since the beginning of history, but it has been getting better and better over time. With obvious backtracking.

My life is better than the lives of my parents, the health and longevity of people in the developed world have improved significantly during the last century.

It isn't all bad news.

I think there is this weird trend or popularity of "anti-morality" going on, like it's a cool thing. Like - doing whatever you want and disregarding the welfare of others beings.

Of course we live in an existence where billions of living beings eat alive mothers and daughters by tearing off their flesh with their own teeth - while still alive, each day, it is easy to prescribe into this mode of thought as if it is natural and ok. However, of the many animal species on earth, we may be one of the few that give special consideration to the experience of other beings. This is one aspect that makes us human and stand out from other animal species. We should not fall back into these 'animal' modes of thought as if it's ok.

I think there is a backlash from the many stupid aspects in 'religion' out there. 'Stupid' meaning - not true, or just stupid. People observe these stupid aspects/notions in religion, and say, if they associate them with 'Christ', then they will rebel by becoming the 'anti-Christ'.

But really, it is just more stupidity compounding upon stupidity.

While many notions in religion may be stupid, real 'morality' is not. True morality has practical, real benefits for everyone.

I fully agree with you. We're losing our touch with humanity.
The WORST part about it is: What's happing in Russia/Ukrain. Does no one else see that Putin is making the exact same moves as Hitler? Olymipcs, the conquoring a soviern country. Then lying about it.... Now trying to eraticate a group of people (Jews) again?
Who's behind the wheel on this one? Is everyone else in the world blind?

So really, as Gandhi said, be the change you want to see in the world. To change the world, simply change yourself.

I'm sorry, but I think this is the biggest load of stinky crap I've read in a long time.
"Every voice is equal" that's not even reality.

I once saw a bumper sticker that read " Save the world, kill yourself".
Ghandhi was an iluminati schill. IMO

No, I'm talking about American style democracy which is more like Broadway. Notice the correlation between the number of democratic countries and time.

What is wrong with the world? Simple. Humans live there. n

The times we live now are no more insane, cruel, selfish, abusive, violent, greedy, and psychotic. The only thing that has changed is our ability to communicate the vile nature of species homo sapiens. But history is filled with people, systems, and societies that are fueled and exist primarily off the suffering of others and the wanton abuse of the natural world.

And it will continue until human nature evolves.

this is 100% truth, there is no evil cabal no spiritual forces at work, it's just basic human failure.

we just see the underbelly of the human race more and more thanks to the new and old media. both find huge profits in reinforcing a mentality of fear and victim hood, making us scared of each other, this in turn creates more suffering, turning into a vicious cycle.

the only thing that has changed really in comparison to even 200 years ago is that we know when the guy over in the next town kills someone, i mean come on people crime is at a 35 year low! if the world is so much worse than it was 35 years ago why is crime down? if you trust the medias' take, we are knifing each other in the streets, burning buildings down!
there is however a big change over 200 years ago, we can kill massive numbers of people now, but inversely we can save massive numbers of people too!

if you find this world disgusting, stop reading and absorbing the medias' narrative, because it's fiction, it's a lie. you are being brainwashed into fearing everything around you. why? it's not some sinister plan by a shadowy group, it's the media, they learned that fear creates huge profits and keeps scared people coming back to them since they reinforce that fear.
they also know huge profits are made by turning people on each other, just look at how the media kept up the fervor over the american elections, they wanted people to hate or fear the candidates, it kept people coming back!

I think they call us the "great satan" because our main export, democracy; is a finger pointing forum. That's why Washington is full of actor-agents, because any politician who would invest in it on that on a serious personal level is just wasting their time. That's why it's a good show, it's a bunch of # flingers that are only pretending to give a # about what they're flinging # about in the first place.

no this isn't the reason, democracy has nothing to do with why the west is called that. they call us that because they believe our lack of belief in allah, our lack of following allahs' laws and their perception that we want to turn them into us causes this.
our drinking of alcohol, our keeping of dogs as pets, letting women wear the clothes they do, our manipulation of their countries for our own greed, those are the reasons. just the fact that a large majority of the west isn't willing to become muslim is enough, since they believe that islam is the correct religion of god.
it's all because they believe that the west's influence on muslim countries is sinful and corrupting, if democracy was why, why did egypt elect through democracy no less, the brotherhood? why did iraq elect anti-american muslims? no, democracy is not the reason, that is a lie.

i think that if anyone wants to guess motives of people they really should learn about them first.

Are you implying this is anything new?

Humanity has always been this way, just we get to see how bad it really is now we can communicate easier.

We can all get together and make a society of peace and love... until we are invaded because the ground under us become valuable- or until a situation becomes so heated that the first murder is done. If we were born civil, then we wouldnt have had the need to be taught, and didnt need the laws to keep us civil. But we do.

Either evolution has some moral development in the future works, or we create a way to destroy those who show disorders or ideas that might bring harm to us (but then again, thats spinning the same circle).

I've often found myself wondering if I'm the only person who feels helpless, like we're seeing a runaway train careening down the tracks and can do nothing about it. That is the US government. This is probably why I've concluded that open rebellion against the government is the only feasible way to oust those who refuse to honor the rights of the citizenry. Non-violence could potentially fix some things, but it will not get us to the point we wish to be. Or at least where I think we should be.

But there is a certain amount of futility in this whole thing. Even if the people can overthrow a corrupt government, the chances are that anything instituted in its place will become corrupt as well. The ONLY possibility to remedy this is to create a system where the people have more control over what the government does. Instead of electing officials, who do everything in their power to get into office, and then do whatever they want, we need a system that allows us to hold any official accountable for their actions and decisions.

Still not a perfect solution, because the majority can change and become nothing but morons, so a majority form of government only works so long as there are level-headed people constituting that majority. But something needs to be done. There are many things I like about the US government, and I am not anti-government by any means. I am an American patriot, and wish to see the US government become great again. But instead of the government listening to people like me, they would openly crackdown on us and throw us in prison. Instead of listening to the problems the people have with the government, they simply use force.

Part of the problem is a population that is not united. Political parties serve to divide us, and this keeps the possibility of a revolution quite low, since it takes so much organization. I am not saying political parties are a conspiracy, since they've been around for so long, but don't think for one second that those in power do not realize these divisions, and use them to their advantage.

I think it has a lot to do with our natural selection gone very bad.

We have something a lot of animals don't quite have; A more sophisticated form of intelligence. Sure, there are animals out there that are smart in their own ways, although we humans seem to be pretty far ahead of any other species for whatever reason.

I think we're still acting out our survival instincts even though it isn't even really needed anymore. We try to get more and more in order to ensure our survival. And we are doing it in a pretty much self destructive manor. Human progress has shot up exponentially. The Earth isn't going to keep up with our rapid growth. I'm not saying the Earth will be destroyed, be we are surely taking out much more than the Earth can dish back out on it's own.

And when you look at how the world works, we're basically just using the survival of the fittest model. Those who are more skilled and successful sit at the top with insane fortunes, while the rest are mainly scraping on by day by day with little to almost nothing.

I often call it a hoarding disorder, or just some kind of greedy subconscious survival tactic. These people think that the more money or capital they have, the better off their lives will be, thus making their long-term survival easier to obtain. Which doesn't appear accurate at all, yet people believe it.

"With great power comes great responsibility" That seems like a fitting quote to explain humans. We're a little to advanced for our own good. We aren't very responsible yet. We're still very much greedy. Hell, on an evolutionary scale, we're still pretty young. And I don't exactly think that's what humans really are deep down inside. It's just been beat into our heads for some 5,000 years now. People began to realize their true potentials, and power of the human race, and began to use it in their own favor. And started to tell people that's the way it should be. And it looks like it'll take a very long time for people to shake that out of their heads. If ever...

I have always felt that life on this planet resembles a social experiment on a massive scale. 7 billion lab rats confined in a big spherical cage. Seed a religious ideology here, seed another ideology there. Sit back and watch the rats destroy one another for the next few thousand years.
