Chinese vessel detected a pulse signal

In the search of the missing flight MH370 which is now concentrated on finding a signal from the black box, a Chinese vessel has recorded a pulse signal with a frequency of 37.5 kHz.

Although it is not confirmed yet, this is the frequency of the signal from the black box.
What are the odds that something else is there below the surface which transmit a pulse on the same frequency?
To my knowledge the pulse finder must be close to the source in order to detect this signal, below water this signal has a limited reach.
