Will we be able to kill off members because they make dumb/stupid posts in the Board Business & Questions section?

To add. people get sick, move/travel/other commitments etc.

Myself had been pretty much inactive for over a year. This is not my main focus in life, sadly to say.

So, Make the most of it instead. When you get your site up and running, let us know.

i made it caps so that people would notice it and it was a half joke but with a serious twist from someone who had a problem making a user name that i liked ,i can remember being quite frustrated by the process of getting a user name that i found funny or was appropriate to me .

My point being Thurisaz we have posted here taken part in the forum since we joined the club what about members who have been here 10 years and never posted once nada -0

My vote is to leave it alone. They are all part of the history of this great site. What is stopping you from being as creative as you feel they are and making up your own name.

Actually I am probably one of those you want to "kill" off because I don't post often. But, I would really feel bad about that. I have learned so much here, at least once a week sometimes every day, checking in to the state of the world, pros and cons of big questions of life and even where we are in space. I would really hate to be thrown off of here.

I wish you would shut up or that there was an ignore thread function here.

Thanks to whoever finally knocked the caps down. That makes it slightly less annoying.

I can understand a yearning desire for a really cool username and finding out that name is taken. (For me: over and over and over, almost everywhere I go.)

But that just gives others the motivation to come up with something different and unique. Use your imagination!! Get creative. Stump the mods!!!!!

Why would somebody want my user name? I don't think there is a waiting line in case I don't want it or it gets dropped, so I'm thinking there is more to the story. Just my two cents, so let it be... Most of the time I just enjoy reading the other posts and then can't stand how some turn into rot. But I do keep coming back.

It's pretty simple when you think about it as many people have already pointed out.

Once a username is taken then any actions on that ATS account are the sole responsibility of the original user. Deleting them and letting someone else take that username for whatever reasons leaves things open to confusion at the very least.

People may not post but like to subscribe to threads , been without internet access for a long time etc. Why should they lose their account?

And if anyone has opened a thread on here then there is absolutely no way a username can be recycled. The thread would make sense without an opening post, the new user would then be confused with the previous user. As we all know there are also sites that quote posts from ATS and even internet archives. Which again leaves things open to confusing who the user may have been.

There may well even be numerous international data protection and legal reasons why this can't be done to protect ATS.

AprilFool is still available by the way

In this world of "throw away " its nice to find a place that keeps something. We may never know who these ( alive or dead ) people are but there is a small part of them kept here at ATS. I sort of like that idea.
