Ethiopia. Supposedly the people tapped to guard it keep coming down with cancer.

True? IDK

That's Weird? Something so holy and pure, would cause illness on people protecting it?

Found a picture of the Grail, resting calmly in Valencia

I must be pure at heart to have found it.

It's pretty, but I just don't see Jesus as having such a fancy cup? Or am I wrong on that...thoughts anyone?

Hey muzzleflash, nice to hear one of your broadsides.

Interesting parallels you drew there.

My cup runneth over.

If I may…

Many are infatuated with where Jesus stood, walked and died. They build many shrines and proclaim many links to talismans, bloodlines, whatever. The cup he drank from is not whats important. Its just a cup, dammit.

Rather how he lived, what he said, and what he stood for is whats valuable. If anything, thats the missing Holy Grail nowadays. His message.

That and a state of grace.

Things are not Holy.

The cup isn't fancy. The reliquary surrounding it is though.
Reliquary - built by the church ... not by Jesus of course.
The information states how the gold was added later .. around the original cup.

I have a theory about the grail
it's at area 51 at this point
probably found in Iraq "weapons of mass destruction come to mind"
not to mention illegal war
killing numerous heads of state in the region
this is a conspiracy site where the members think outside the box...................and seek the truth

Thank you for putting this together so beautifully. Now I think I can better understand the meaning of the Chariot card in my Thoth deck, I may not have to look it up every time I pull it.

Crowley said of the Charioteer:

He is throned in the chariot rather than conducting it... His only function is to bear the Holy Grail.

Bear (and bare!) your Heart! Enjoy the ride! Life is a Highway!

Goin my way?

Hmmmm......you mean a new base was added to to?.... I would think that would alter the purity of the cup....you know kind of like if you clean or restain an antique it changes the value..not putting a value on the cup, just the power or purity it is suppose to possess. Does that make sense?

As a truth seeker you might want to begin with acknowledging the numerous Kurds that were killed in genocide in by Saddam Husseins chemical WMD, as sold to him by Donald Rumsfeld himself.

Sorry, don't mean to derail this thread, but the OP is mostly unintelligible to people of medium IQ like me, so we find related items.

How small you must be for the little chalet to hold you...

Anyway...I`m glad you found your inner grail. If you find the outer one, send me a note first thing, before you tell anyone else.

Hundreds and thousands of years ago 'they' added gold to things.
(If authentic) it's still the cup Christ used. It's just been decorated.
You and I would rather see it as it was.
But the people 'way back then' would have thought they were honoring God by gold dipping the cup.

Which also gives credence to the story.
People way back then wouldn't dip just any cup in gold and revere it unless they thought it was real.

If it were nowadays, I'd say that 'they' dipped the cup to make a hoax to gain $$$. But back then
everyone was poor so faking a major relic like that wouldn't bring them $$$ from the peasants.
It could still be a fake .. but the gold dipping lends credibility to me.

Things are not Holy.

What if the message could be understood more like this? In the words of Silver Surfer:

If sacred places are spared the ravages of war... then make all places sacred. And if the holy people are to be kept harmless from war... then make all people holy.

All things are Holy. Eat, Drink, and Be Merry!

I'm totally not arguing with you, just bearing/baring this chalice/heart.

Edited to add some rambling:
What is Holy? What is Sacred? Something you breathe your life into. Or something that breathes life into you. No, that's a slightly different metaphor, out-of-keeping with this thread. How about... That which is holy is life-sustaining, life-nurturing, nourishing, it feeds your heart.

My rotten heart must have missed it when it was dangling right in front of my nose. Both the OP, Flyers Fan and you have tried to lead me to the HolyGrail but in my blind ignorance I stumble in the dark. I apologize, for I am not worthy of the Cup.

There is also a 'Holy Chalice' in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. There is a claim that this is the authentic chalice. But the claim is MUCH weaker than the one I previously mentioned.

It was discovered in 1910 in Syria during a drought. Ancient dry wells were empty of water and the bottoms uncovered ancient treasures. Among the treasures was this cup. It was labeled the Chalice of Antioch. It has an inner cup of very old plain silver and an outer cup of carved fancy silver. As with the previous Chalice that I mentioned ... the inner cup is much older than the outer cup. The outer cup was added later to help preserve the inner 'real' cup.

Antioch Chalice - NY Met Museum

Most people think this is really from the 500s.

I didn't know that...that's interesting. Thanks for the info.....on a side note, I still look at cups, and old bibles when I'm in antique shops....I'm not a very religious person, but you just never know when some odd relic will pop up!

You have to remember what it was used for by Moses (allegedly). It helped the exiled Jews conquer their foes. It was a wmd, of sorts.

No songs, cookies and bunnies there.

EBAY is good for that. Seriously ... i was 'window shopping' on EBAY recently and put in 'holy relics'. WOW. I woudln't buy any from EBAY .. but there are some in there that look old and authentic (with paperwork.) I got mine from a priest friend in Rome. (he passed away in January so I can't get anymore now).

I have a few "1st class" relics from my 'conservative Catholic' days.
St. Jerome Emiliani, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Dismas, and Bl Kateri Tekakwitha.
(with papers and stamps from Rome)
