I have two Facebook accounts. One is for professional reference only. Just boring basic information and "friends" with professional work field
related people. It's sole purpose is to appease the occasional nosy prospective employer. My 2nd Facebook account is for staying in touch with
family. I check in there *maybe* once a month.
I have a Twitter account, but I'll be damned if I can remember the login information. No worries.
If you Google my name, you'll realize that I share the same name as a porn star. (really) Anyone attempting to search for me via Google search will
be greeted with over 65 million query results. Some guys may enjoy the challenge, but of those 65+ million results, none pertain to me. LOL Happy
hunting regardless.
I own two domains. My main domain is myname.net. I run my own mail server so that I can bypass using sites like Gmail, Yahoo or MSN.
[email protected] looks nicer than
[email protected] I also have total control over spam filtering, security, etc.
My 2nd domain is used strictly for registering on websites and in forums. Each site I register on uses a different email address. As an example, if
I register for ATS, I use
[email protected]. If I register on the CNN website, I use
[email protected]. If I get spammed by a company, I can
easily track which site they got my info from simply by looking at the email address the spam was sent to. If I get spam that is sent to
[email protected], I know that they probably received my info from proflowers.com.
Related to the last paragraph, when I need to provide personal information for website registration, I usually register using my cat's name, the
address of the local landfill, and my ex husband's date of birth.
There is exactly ONE picture of me online, a very professional picture only associated with my professional credentials and registration.
Overall I'd rate my digital footprint as
3/5.
