It would be suicide for both Nations.

The rhetoric on both sides needs to calm down.

Perhaps Russia knows something the American people don't...Perhaps we no longer have a nuclear force powerful enough to be a deterrent...

We have something far worse potentially more dangerous...

Incredibly weak leadership that not only made all of this possible, but made it irresistible for the Russians. And now, that pathetically weak leadership is going to attempt to show strength...

It's like a kid, with a slight mental instability being given a loaded gun and expecting that kid to be responsible when confronted by bullies.

Interesting how such a serious topic has turned into a joking matter.

Having lived through the previous Cold War, I know this propaganda plays a huge role. Last time it had both the American and Russian people at each others throats over lies. Both sides believed the other was out to destroy them and that was never true, but look at the wasted resources due to the propaganda. Neither side ever intended on launching the missiles and it was all propaganda a bluster.

The deterrents are still in place and either side can conceivably destroy humanity or do a damn good imitation of it. This game is for all the marbles.

One side see's democracy and freedom as being the solution to the worlds ills and the other see's the worlds citizens as sheep that need to be controlled by the hand picked elite. Granted it's hard to tell them apart at times, but both sides are very serious.

I doubt there is any real danger of a fighting war and I doubt either Presidents Obama or Putin have any thoughts of a fighting war. The Nuclear Deterrent does work in that regard. This will be about other measures and I see it as a contest to see which side controls what portion of the world and there are more than the two sides.

The threat we all share is fanaticism and terrorism and the further we are apart, the more danger we are in worldwide.

If we could see ahead a generation or two, we would likely find the Crimea wanting to break away from Russia again and just as passionately as they want to join Russia now.

Those who in my opinion foolishly wanted to do completely away with the nuclear deterrent, should be celebrating the fact it is still there. That is what will keep us out of war.

I do not think we the US can deal with Russia.
