NYPD respond to reports of building explosion

The NYPD is on the scene of a reported explosion inside a building on E. 116th St. in Manhattan.

There are unconfirmed reports of a loud blast at the scene near Park Ave.

Authorities are responding to reports of an explosion and collapse in Manhattan. FDNY said it was responding to 116th Street and Park Avenue. Smoke could be seen from midtown, a few miles away. There was no immediate word about injuries. Metro-North trains in the area were halted because of debris on tracks, and some passengers reported being ordered off their trains at 125th Street

My wife just called in a panic. The explosion is near my daughter's school and the news coverage is from the same block as the school and there's a ton of smoke and fumes.

Emergency crews are reportedly on the scene of a possible building explosion in East Harlem.

Details are limited but the incident reportedly happened this morning in the area of East 116th Street and Park Avenue.

NY1 has a crew heading to the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.

There are reports that people are trapped after part of the building collapsed. It is unclear what caused the explosion at this time, but Con Ed was requested on rush for a gas leak.

does she live near there, the reports are saying it is a residential building and there are injuries and they think some people trapped.

Kinda looks like a building marked as an Urban Garden Center on Google Maps from the helicopter footage.

A reporter said one maybe two buildings collapsed. Four or five buildings on fire.

Looking at the live footage the building is gone, with the side buildings on fire I dunno.
Hope everyone's all right.
Anyone know what type of building it was?.

They are talking about 2 buildings collapsed, and 11 WITH minor injuries.

foxnews saying 11 injured,three alarm with over 100 firefighter responding.
