I don't know how fixed the lotto is but I guess anything is possible. My great aunt hit the Ohio state lotto about 5 years ago. It was 10 million. She took the lump sum payment option and got just under 4 million after taxes. She used the auto lotto option and the machine picked her numbers. Since then she's made a few more million just on simple risk free investments. The interest rates that banks will give her for putting a couple million into the bank is crazy. She gets way above the normal yearly percentage rage. I believe she is getting 8 to 10% a year, which equals hundreds of thousands every year just in the interest, of course the income is taxed but it's a hell of a lot more than she was making as a grocery store baker. Needless to say I get some very nice Christmas gifts. I don't play the lotto myself. I also saw it as throwing money way because the odds were so incredible high of winning and now with a lotto winner in the family I figure my odds are even worse.

Is your great aunt related to this character ?
ap.tbo.com...

Of course part of staging the fraud includes from times to times giving a face to a jackpot winner.

Since the media is totally controlled by the goverment, there is no risk that the "winner" will be exposed as an actor.

The "story" of "Juan Rodrguez" ( $149 Million Lottery Winner Had Just 78 Cents in Bank) is the ultimate example to show that the government can tell ANYTHING about the "winner".

There is no need to rig a system that is designed to favor "the house". Simply allowing probability and time to do its work will guartantee a profit.

Before one can claim they are commiting fraud, one should first answer some simple questions.

What need do they have to commit fraud? Why would they jeopardize 100's of millions of dollars in revenue to "hedge their bet" when simply adding an extra ball in the drawing, or adding another number to the mix is enough to adjust their earnings?

Why would they risk millions of dollars when half of their revenue is not produced by bouncing balls, but rather instant tickets (which have a set profit margin)? Why jeopardize the "entire ball of yarn" when all they need to do is adjust the total revenue by adjusting odds on the instant tickets?

Lotto games are like going to Vegas. The games played in a casino have no need to cheat when they are designed to favor the house, simply letting people play the games guarantee a profit.

Some people will just believe that everything in life is a conspiracy. Thats just how life goes. Im betting if you really wanted to MattMarriott you could pick a state like Ohio and find every winner of the state lotto. Are you trying to say that they are all fakes or that the lottos are rigged to picked these people? If so, then lets see the evidence and how you came to this conclusion. This would not be a hard one to prove or disprove.

Nope, my great aunt wasnt related to Juan Rodriguez. My great aunts family was never poor. They were never rich either but working class. They had very good lives before they won and now they have great lives because my aunt spent a dollar.

Better luck on your next conspiracy theory.

A true lottery would be that every dollar played would be given to the winner immediatly, but the government would not allow that because they want more than just the income tax from the winner.

We voted in a lottery in my state about 20 years ago, and at the time it was to all go in the school system and we would never have to have special taxes for schools again. Wrong - that state puts much of it in the general fund & we still have special school levies.

When it first started winners would get their payments over 20 years, now they've become so greedy their spreading it out to 25 years. Also, they lottery prize amount would increase at a rate equal to the tickets purchased, now they just raise it a bit a time - so they can just collect more money & not pay as much out in the prize. If you take the money up front you only get 50% and then over course your taxed on it - thus a million dollar lottery becomes a little over 300k. As typical they got goverment workers sitting ther trying to figure out every way they can to keep more of the once so called lottery jackpot. Of course from a government that calls a 3% budget increase a budget cut because they didn't get the 6% they were asking for it's a small lie.

Now, I completely agree with Outsider. If there is a lotto conspiracy Outsider just summed it up perfectly.

One thing I have noticed MattMarriot is that you appear in many of your posts to be Christian fella, and you naysay many things that are part of the commonplace world. So do me a favor will ya? Talk your bud Jesus and tell him that I will begin to believe that he is more than just a common ordinary fairy tale when he shows me the power and the glory by handing me a really huge superlotto Jackpot!

If you want to complain about a scam ... look in your own back yard son.
Odds of winning a Jackpot ... 1 in 25,000,000
Odds of meeting Jesus ......... 0 in 600,000,000,000,000

Hell seekerof, Ted Bundy for all outward appearance seemed like a nice guy, but he and many other things in this world aren't what they may appear to be. Elections, especially recently here in the US, are no exception.
As far the lottery, there is no doubt in my mind that the governemt profits enormously, but I don't think they would rig the results of a drawing, why would they care who won when the real meat of the lottery is not the grand prize they give away.

The government doesn't hide that, if you ask it. What about reading what I wrote in this thread before "contributing" to it ?

Okay - you called me & I admit I skimmed you sly remarks a little quickly. If I'm getting to far off your point I'm sorry - I was government educated.

While I doubt there's any fraud involved in the meager payouts (aka jackpots) it just doesn't make sense when the bigger payout is what they're taking in daily anyway- I believe the fraud (not legal fraud) is how they trick people into believing they are paying out a larger percentage then they actually are in order to get people to play.

Kind of like how the casinos advertise in newspapers & billboards with flashing lights that they payout 3 million a day in slots winnings, but they fail to post anywhere that they take in 10 million before they pay that out - thus the reality is they take in 7 million a day from players pockets, but people only see the part they want to see. Sure even the casinos will tell you if you ask, but if someone started advertising that I wonder how long it would take before they came after you. Either with lawyers suing you for hurting their business or other not so legal ways. They don't like it when they can't afford as many little girls, drugs, fancy automobiles & airplanes, and homes all over the planet.

The government is careful to do everything legal while they take your money, if it's not legal they mis-direct the blame, swap people around then change the law to make it legal. The other fraud is how they spend the money after they get it, but that's another subject. A few jackpot winners in the media is what keeps their scam going. They are liars & they're corrupt I agree, but if we go after them and slow the flow of their squandering our money they turn the table and point the finger that we are hurting the kids & the disabled by taking away their services. Lies, lies, lies & more lies. Taxes upon, taxes, upon more taxes.

Ah, the taste of revolution isn't all that bad unless you've already created enough comfort to live nicely - that's what they're counting on - otherwise I could easily shoot everyone of them dead and not feel a bit of remorse. But since sitting here drinking a beer in my heated house listening to the radio and communcating with others on the net seems better than a cold jail cell counting the texture bumps on the wall listening to bubba snore & jimmy squeal - I'm forced let them live. In the grand scheme of things they're the real cons and their scheme is mis-direction of reality and the wealth us workers created. I don't believe all government workers are bad there is a class of them that is unaware & believes in what they are doing, but they're ignorant as to the role they play.

Those in government are creating so many laws that almost everyone can be considered a criminal. The purposeful lack of enforcement calls for cries of more laws & thus the setup for Patriot act type laws - with backwards labels - almost like a revenge against the patriots more like it - must be their little joke. When some local folks where I live started exposing some of the ways the government was ripping us off you know what happened. Pretty soon the guy starts getting audited every year & the media showed where he make some legal mistakes etc. to try to paint him as a bad guy. Had he had an underage girlfriend while in his teens years prior and a ticket for smoking pot in college he would have been labeled a drug crazed pediphile by the media. Another words if you expose them they will go after you.

As far as voting machines go, computerized voting with hard copy receipts would be allot better then our current fradulent system and being on computers could allow for better check & balances. Of course if it's designed by them they'll try put in just enough secrecy (for security purposes of course) to be able to rob us again.

People are murdered for a lot less than the typical lottery jackpot.

Of course it's rigged.

Here in the UK they stop selling tickets at 7.30 pm and the numbers aren't drawn until after eight. Enough time for the Government or Camelot to see what numbers haven't been chosen and then make the machine pull out the ones they want.

Congratulations for contributing to step 2.

Step 2 - for the JACKPOT a combination, say X, is selected that has not been choosen by anyone (see step 1).

So now there's only step 3 that needs to be explained :
- how does the government takes X out from the hat ?

As I said before, stage magicians have been doing simple things like that for years. If the government wanted those balls to come out in a specific order, they would.

Our lotto in Ireland is supposed to fund good causes (charities and sport) which means our goverment saves money. People the lotto is indirect taxation any way you look at it. It's been running here for over ten years, with about 350 people winning, of that 350 only about 150 have been lifechanging ie. give up work, look after family and friends etc. Its proven that the less well off spend the most (% of weekly income) compared to the more affluent who use their pocket change to buy into the dream. "It could be you" indeed, hit by a bus, struck by lightening but not winning the big prize. Save your money, but if you must spend it, put it on the 5th horse in the 4th race running tomorrow the odds are shorter than winning the @big one'.

The lottery, especially the Irish Lottery, is meant to kill you...oh, wait that was "Waking Ned Devine".

Anyway, why would the government bother? Like was said before, it's a tax. Here in Virginia part of it goes to help schools. I find that funny because if they make the kids too smart the tykes will see that the 70 million to one odds aren't that great...
