I was born in the soviet union USSR, i have family both in Russia and in Ukraine. Russia is the hero here and America has everyone blinded to that. i speak to my family in both parts of the former USSR daily and what i know would break your heart.

USSR broke up, its debt was split between the the newly created republics everyone paid, except Ukraine.
they needed gas and couldn't afford to pay then and there, we gave them gas and agreed on later payments.
they are in debt 30 bill so far for gas alone. we supply Europe with gas using the pipeline through Ukraine, they steal from Europe and we send more anyway...

We threaten to stop selling Ukraine gas at cheaper prices, they threaten to blow the freaking pipe up(forgetting that their people will ALL freeze come winter! their govt is stupid enough to have publicly said it should nuke Russia!!! ITS OWN BROTHER AND CLOSEST NEIGHBOR!
Russians trapped in Ukraine CANNOT leave, they are begging Russia for help! BEGGING YOUR MOTHER#####'S and while Russia thinks of a way to help them without resorting to total brute force the Ukrainian army is BURNING PEOPLE ALIVE, bombing towns, mobs of people beating anyone who speaks a word of Russian man woman child doesn't matter to them!

AMERICA! is causing a big deal out of Ukraine's HissyFit now Ukraine thinks its right!!! and all so America can sell gas to Europe at a higher price then Europe is paying to get it from Russia.

I am in no way a crying kind of guy, but the real things going on in Ukraine crush me deep down i cant help but cry when i see whats happening over there. and if you have any doubts about Russia's innocents go watch some of the videos shot by the people in Ukraine right now! Ukraine rebels (stupid youths backed by the Ukrainian army) throwing Molotov cocktails into buildings where men woman and children who are UNARMED have barracked themselves, those who don't wanna be cooked alive jump out of the window to be engulfed by the mob who then proceed to beat them to death! Ukraine's local police are not even lifting a finger to stop being being killed daily, jets are dropping bombs on their own towns! Russians who are trapped in Ukraine (some with previous military history) are holding back these GUTLESS MONSTERS but these people are old and cannot do this alone and are also constantly begging Russia for help.but you Americans and your focked up govt has our hands tied behind our back! NEVER BEFORE have there been any votes so clear Russians stuck in Ukraine want out but Ukraine will not let them leave because then Russia will cut all ties with them and let the small part of Ukraine behind this rot and freeze.

When Russia seized Crimea in March, it acquired not just the Crimean landmass but also a maritime zone more than three times its size with the rights to underwater resources potentially worth trillions of dollars.

Most immediately, analysts say, Russia’s seizing may alter the route along which the South Stream pipeline would be built, saving Russia money, time and engineering challenges. The planned pipeline, meant to run through the deepest parts of the Black Sea, is to pump Russian gas to Europe.

Originally, to avoid Ukraine’s maritime zone, Russia drew the route for the costly pipeline in a circuitous jog southward through Turkey’s waters. But now it can take a far more direct path through its newly acquired Black Sea territory, if the project moves forward. The Ukraine crisis has thrown its future into doubt.

There are plenty of us in the U.S....PLENTY...who are completely against what our government is doing. If it were actually up to a public vote, I'm not so sure the whole thing wouldn't be quickly dropped.

During the day of victory celebrations in Ukraine police riot squads made a clear walkway for Russian citizens who were celebrating the defeat of Hitler, why make a walkway for them? because the Ukrainian youths and the Ukrainian rebels attacked the town burnt down all the celebratory decorations, tents with snacks and water beating anyone who tried to stop them TO DEATH, afterwards cornered the Russian citizens at the embassy and started to light the on fire and surrounding it yelling come out and die, death to the Jewish scum, so on and so forth. the police commanding officer who was recorded on the phone to his superiors stating its getting out of hand is caught with his handgun out shooting at the windows where he saw heads moving THE FREAKING COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE POLICE SENT TO PROTECT THE RUSSIANS CELEBRATING THE VICTORY OF WWII is shooting at the people hes there to save! all recorded all on the net look it up.
So the police riot squad headed by the same guy you see shooting at the civilians trapped in the embassy make a corridor for the Russians to get out of the now totally engulfed embassy, although not much point as the Russians escape the fire and run through the corridor they are pelted with bricks, bottles, hit over the heads with pipes a woman was shot and an old man stabbed. all while the police are "controlling the situation" THEY ARE UNARMED CIVILIANS BEING KILLED WHILE TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM THE MOB WHO HAS ATTACKED THEM DURING THE DAY WE CELEBRATE THE DEFEAT OF NAZI GERMANY! all under the eyes of the police who obviously don't give 2 shiits about them.

Weve seen in this thread countless times Russian media has been caught in blatant lies at this point Russian media cannot be trusted. They have continually lied to the Russian people from the NAZI scenario and also the sepratists themselves. The sepratists are a very small group attempting to use the media to make them seem much larger and through Russian propaganda telling lies trying to make it seem like the US is the initiator when in truth Ukraine meant nothing to the US and even now the Obama admin is trying to keep US involvement to a minimum. If the US thought Ukraine was important they would already have 50000 troops on the ground.

MOSCOW – Russia's journalists are being subjected to an unprecedented crackdown on independent news coverage that appears to have coincided with President Vladimir Putin's incursion into Ukraine.

"This isn't just media pressure, it's a mop-up operation," said Galina Timchenko, who was fired from her post as chief editor at Lenta.ru, Russia's most popular news site.

Timchenko said she was fired March 12 by publication owner Alexander Mamut, a Russian oligarch close to the Kremlin who called her into his office and told her she should leave.

He gave no explanation, she said, though the firing came after Lenta.ru ran an interview with a Ukrainian nationalist who was considered an "extremist" by Russia's media regulatory agency Roskomnadzor.

Since it was kindly laid out in actual line item detail, we know to the dollars how much the U.S. directed in funding to which opposition group at what point in time and ...how many years each had been funded at what level going onward.

Nothing in there came from Moscow or the SVR. It was 100% and totally drawn from United States raw data sets. All from their own accounting and details to who and when.

The fact we helped fund and support one side of what has happened in Ukraine seems documented and proven fact here, due to extreme honesty or a real sloppy move in forgetting THAT area had it all spelled out in detail. Either way, we know the specifics without guessing and that helps for the record, anyway.

After the fall of the USSR Large amounts of capitol were flooded into that region including Russia itself took money for infrastructure loan guarantees. Russia still currently owes money to the IMF as well as most eastern bloc countries. There economy was destroyed with the collapse and is taking decades to rebuild it. Giving money to these countries is no different than money given in Africa as well. Well there is one difference this tme even with Ukraine they had previously taken out two loans one 14 billion another 16 billion. Both times the same problem caused the problem necessitating the loan there dependence on foreign gas. This time they must use the money for developing alternatives and will be done in loan installments. Last time they took out a loan they ended up spending 14 billion for a soccer game. This time there is restrictions on how they can use the loan.

As far as investments in Ukraine of course the US invests in 3rd world countries its done all over the world two reason one opens up further trade and two promotion of democracy leads to stability in a region. But strategically spaeking Ukraine has no value militarily. And financially its the EU that benifits not the US this is why Obama isnt doing anything but cursory hand waving if he truly wanted to hurt the Russian economy it can be done.
