So I expect now we should cheer for this action? The only reason Ukraine would do this if they got serious backing from the US/NATO.

Every time there is word of de-escalation one side starts to ¨¨¨¨ things up again.

If I were Ukraine, and there were 40k Russian troops on the border, I would deploy my forces to counter.

Russia is playing the same game we see in the thread - the im rubber and your glue game.

Russia has not pulled its troops from the border.

Nuclear missile tests? Putin has fallen to the level of Kim Jung Un.

The 15,000 Ukrainian troops have been on the border for a while, at least for a month or so in response to Russia massing 40,000 soldiers there too. It is a purely defensive move and easily justifiable unlike Russia's excuse because on multiple occasions they have failed to explain to the OSCE what their troops are doing.

Russia is doing their typical spin in an effort to create disruption.

During the drills, it was demonstrated how the missile corps, artillery, aviation and anti-aircraft defenses can be used – for instance, to destroy troops on the ground or to counter massive missile, aviation or nuclear strikes by an enemy.

Plus, it was shown how to inflict a launch-through-attack strike with nuclear missiles.

I got 2 things from that article -

#1 - The image in the article looks like they are holding a Jerry Lee Lewis telethon.

#2 - Russia had no room to complain about the US missile defense program if Russia has their own.

ETA - It just dawned on me this is the same stunt Putin pulled with Ukraine to start out with. Putin claims they will remove forces then Putin announces a series of large "training exercises". Those exercises are classified as nuclear training yet the assets involved don't support that position.

Russia and Lithuania ended the treaty that required Russia to have its weapons / equipment checked while transiting Lithuania territory in route to Kaliningrad.

Its possible this action is nothing more than Russia removing nukes / other equipment from Kaliningrad to Russia / allied nation etc.

Is the vessel nuclear powered?
Is the vessel armed with nuclear missiles?
Is the vessel acting as a transport to move those items somewhere else.

The Russian carrier could be present as security. Last I saw Russia only had 1 aircraft carrier left. Anyone know if they have built / deployed new ones?
