And dont think Turkey wont get involved over this one because they will.

Oh they will for sure. They'll last 3 days.

Yes they probably would get involved, but 3 days, not to sure about that.
Turkey is part of NATO. A very powerful member I might add.

Claimed footage from the Ukrainian Border patrol plane that was supposedly fired on by pro-Russian forces yesterday. It shows the plane being targeted via laser, and then later what looks like muzzle flashes. My take is that the soldier with the laser tried to warn or scare the plane off and when that didn't work they resorted to more drastic measures. I think if they really wanted to shoot down that plane they could have.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine’s press service has released an interesting video recorded by a Diamond DA42 light surveillance plane.

The unarmed four seat, twin engine, propeller-driven airplane was patrolling the border, keeping an eye on the numerous block-posts of Russian troops deployed along the Perekop Isthmus, in the northern part of Crimea, when it was fired upon.

Noteworthy, the Russians used what seems to be a green laser for either determine the range of the aircraft or blind the DA42′s onboard Wescam EO/IR camera.

Source: theaviationist.com...

ETA: the targeting comes at the 1:00 mark the soldier shines a green laser at the plane. at 1:27 in the lower left hand corner in the trees you can see flashes. Not sure what they are from, but if I was the pilot I would assume that they were muzzle flashes, and you can tell he bugged out (returned to base) assuming the same.

They didn't officially declare war, but Ukraine's president said them entering Crimea was like them declaring war.

The Russian cabinet gave Putin permission to use military force if need be to secure Crimea & Ukraine to protect their military assets and Russian speaking people.

The OP's title is "Russia declares war on Ukraine". I certainly did not note any declarations of war, either overt or "in defense", in the links the OP provided.

From the RT article on the subject:

During Friday talks with the speaker of the Crimean legislature Vladimir Konstantinov in Moscow the head of the Federation Council emphasized that Russia sought no confrontation with any party in the crisis and seeks cooperation with Ukraine, the European Union and United States. “We should abandon the language of threats and start building a mutual understanding despite the existing contradictions,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted Matvienko as saying.

rt.com...

And, from just a few days ago, on the subject of military intervention/action:

While he denounced the Kiev authorities, Putin said Russia was not planning any imminent military action. “The use of troops is a last resort,” he said. “There is no necessity to do it at the moment, though that option is on the table.”

Any intervention would be purely humanitarian in nature, Putin said.

“If we take a decision to deploy troops then it will only be for the people’s protection,” he said. “Our militaries are brothers in arms, friends. I am sure that Ukrainian and Russian soldiers will be on the same side of the barricade.”

en.ria.ru...

That is the closest reference to the use of military within Crimea or Ukraine by any Russian official as a "last resort" option and the wording isn't that hard to infer that they haven "taken that decision" yet. Like I said, the OP's title was "Russia declares war on Ukraine". i still haven't found any such declaration having been made yet or even a declaration of military action.

Let's not spread lies. There are NO Russian troops in Crimea or Ukraine, those are simply local defense forces protecting ethnic Russians...According to Putin and RT.

RT is probably the most fair and balanced news channel I have ever watched. They really show both sides: Putin's and Putin's Russia. Hard hitting reporting.

Yes and once the time window has passed you cannot edit the title of the thread. Another member came in here with the same sentiment and an argument ensued in which mods had to step in.

What you are saying has been established is all I'm saying.

What lies did I spread? All I said was that they gave Putin permission to use military force if need be. I never said Putin has used military force. They have been denying Russian involvement the entire time............

Okay, glad to hear it. I didn't read through the 163 pages of this thread but went through a good number of them at the front and end. Must have happened in what I skipped. This thread is kind of ridiculously long, lol.

Did find this story on Kherson, which the OP was making remarks about. Not sure if it's been added but just in case it hasn't: en.ria.ru...

When i quoted the Ukrainian news sites on the opening posts, the headlines said Russia declares war on Ukraine.

And this is the most wierd war ever. Ukrainian land has been occupied, yet no one killed. Russian army has infact occupied Ukraine. Lets not forget this is an invasion and an occupation.

Turkey could easily wipe out the entire black sea fleet on their own dont kid yourself. You way underestimate their military power turkey has the power to take the black sea if they wanted to. Russia has a larger navy russia has 352 ships but half of them dont really work for example theres only about 40 ships in the black sea that actually run. Turkish navy is consists of 115 ships all in the bosphorus. Than they can bring far more airpower into Ukraine and the black sea than the russians can. The only option Russia would have would be to put there only aircraft carrier into the black sea but have to go through Turkey to get there. And dont think NATO wouldnt supply support to a NATO member. Luckily for now Turkey is willing to see what happens in Crimea.

I have suggested previously in this thread that the title should be changed as it is misleading to the reader. As of this writing no-one has declared war on either Ukraine or Russia since the crisis started however, it is fair to say both countries have threatened military action against each other - crucially they haven't "declared" war.

No russia is playing this off as a humanitarian mission Ukraine sees this as an invasion. Ukraine wont declare war on Russia they arent stupid. But i could see them at this point trying to push the Russians into firing on them to escalate the situation is a possibility there going to try to show this is an invasion. But your kind of splitting hares when you send armed troops into an area that is a war just so far has been relatively peaceful.

Crimea is part of Ukraine at least for now Russians are attempting to change that but it is Ukraine. And entering a country with a military is a war. Doesnt matter the reason for being there countries make up reasons all the time like the US did in the Iraq war. Everyone knows they just wanted Saddam gone but thats not what they claimed.

Let us hope that Turkey doesn't get involved militarily. If they do get involved some alliances have to honored, turning this into something much bigger than Crimea.

Yea I know. Hence all of the ............ after my last statement.

But I still say pro-Russian troops instead of Russian troops to avoid more arguments.
