Hell yeah ! Vet on line !!!
About my boy cat ( he lost two stone ) ...
.... came home on a limp.
Walks on it timidly - has improved remarkably in two days.
Seems to be his foot - yet looks like hip when you watch him walk ...
I am not a vet !
What kind of car is a limp? (A limpousine??)
Joke aside...
Have you had a good look at the limb on which he is limping? try having a feel (but not too hard), if he cries in pain, try and explain to me at which
point of his, paw, elbow joint or shoulder you touched when he started crying as best as possible. Might also be a good idea to also palpate the lower
back on both hips and also the abdominal region.
If it is the hip, might be best to get an Xray done as he may have been hit by a car/fallen etc and the hip might be misplaced.
Is he eating, peeing/pooing? If you can observe his urine in the litter tray what colour is it? (If it is extremely dark or darker than usual, best to
have an XRay too to make sure that the kidneys or any other internal organ are not touched).
If you see faeces in his litter tray, observe the colour to make sure that they are either not to pale (beige to white which is a sign of Liver
malfunction) or do not have blood in them which could be a sign of quite a few different internal lesions)
Is he breathing ok, he should not be rasping or having any type of fluid coming from his mouth or nose (or crusts around the nostrils)... If you
observe any of these symptoms, take him for a full physical check up.
Check the colour of his gums and the interior of his lower eye lids too, they should be quite pink, if they are very pale then take him to the vets
for a full check up to rule out anaemia.
If you can manage to get a digital thermometer up his backside (not too deep about 1.5cm deep and at a slight angle so that you are taking the
temperature of the rectal wall and not his faeces). Temperature should be between 100.5 to 102.5 degrees anything below or above requires a visit to
the vet too.
Hope this is of some help?
Kindest respects
Rod
