Signs Of Online COINTELPRO And What To Do About It

I recently found this very fascinating and informative article about COINTELPRO
The author writes from personal experience. My own personal experience says I may
have been a casualty of COINTELPRO, unfortunately I can't prove it.
This should be REQUIRED READING FOR ALL ATS MEMBERS

Signs of COINTELPRO

At first glance, anonymity appears to have strong advantages. When a person believes that she is anonymous, she will write things she would normally withhold. There is a great feeling of freedom in being faceless. Therein, however, lays the danger of anonymity. What happens, when despite your best efforts and best measures, your anonymity is lifted?

You can draw your own conclusions...

Let us begin with ignorance on your own part. You’ve found an online forum. You are interested in debating with the posters on that forum. You see the posts and enter their environment, trusting that you are entering a world of equals. What if you are wrong?

It is not always easy to know, at first, that you have been targeted. However, there are warning signs if you know what to look for. Initially, COINTELPRO deploys several personalities to interact with you. These may be multiple individuals or a single individual using multiple online names. One is often “the bad cop.” He or she will argue against you and trail you as you move from forum to forum. His goal is to make sure nothing you write is posted unopposed.

They may go so far as to put up a blog in your name. They did this to me. They also may take articles that you have written, modify them and then repost them online2.

What not to do...

  First of all, do not bother filing a complaint with the FBI or your local police department. This advice applies to victims of COINTELPRO only. If you are merely the victim of a cyber stalker, then the police may be of some use. However, if you are a political writer and especially if you are an anarchist, socialist, communist, green or Muslim, it is really in your best interest to avoid the FBI and police. They will take advantage of the encounter to obtain personal information about you and file it away for future use.

What you can do about it...

Change Internet Service Provider immediately. If you can, change your ISP every two months. This will make online monitoring more difficult and more expensive. It will force COINTELPRO to establish new relationships at each new ISP, consuming their time and money.

If you are suspicious about some specific individual, plant unique disinformation with that person. It should be information that would be of interest to COINTELPRO. For example, tell them that you think an ex-lover is behind the harassment. Make up a name for the ex-lover and a location. Give some fake details. See if that information ends up online. If you choose to do this, make sure that only that person has the unique disinformation. If you give the unique disinformation to more than one person it is no longer unique and you cannot reliably trace it back to its source.

If you become silent and do not respond to their attempts to engage you, they often
employ “The Absurd and Outrageous Accusations Script.” This script is designed to
compel you to interact with them. For example, in my case, they wrote an article and
published it online on Boston IndyMedia. The article stated that I had been arrested in
Harvard Square for offering to assist a young boy tinkle in the bathroom. Not only did
this never happen, but how could one not respond to such an accusation? The accusation
is so vile and horrible that any normal person would want to denounce it and declare,
over and over again, that it is false and libelous. This, of course, is what they want.

Does anyone have any personal experience with this? I mean aside from the obvious agents
here on ATS? I'd sure like to hear about it. Also, I know a lot of military men and women
frequent this site (who are NOT traitors) and some of you have been trained in psyops.
What say you about these tactics?

To me, a cointelpro troll is one who only participates in one or two forums (usually related topics), and they troll the Official Government Story like it is the gospel. You've just described me. But no one pays me. I ridicule because it's usually deserved. So sorry!

I'm sure you've seen the level of crazy around here. Being all gentle and loving doesn't get you anywhere when someone's spending 50 pages staunchly claiming space is a hologram.

If intelligence agencies had any concern for their budget, I doubt they would waste too much time on ATS. You don't need cointelpro when you have so many opposing opinions on this site and crazies muddying the waters.

I think that evaluation of the very low morality - called "flexible morality" in Intelligence jargon - which is customarily found among Cointelpro agents is a good method of ascertaining who might be one such, and this is exactly the subject of this thread. It isn't because the CIA hired many Cubans as Cointelpro agents during their efforts to destabilize Cuba in the 1960's that everyone who is Cuban refugee is a Cointelpro agent. But those who are, Cuban or otherwise, are very morally deficient treacherous individuals who would sell out their mother and sister. It is a very filthy profession of hired subversive intellectual prostitution making for quite distasteful individuals. I am sorry if you feel concerned...

i agree...besides ATS is a lite weight as far as the extreme nuttys and the crazys (thank god)....i have been to a couple of others and the bizarre rantings are just over the top, makes ted nugent sound like a saint.

The thing about that is, I know in several discussion topics when something rational and scientifically provable gets pointed out to refute someone's totally baseless claims, that same line gets trotted out. On ATS, especially in the fragile earth/geo engineering threads, people routinely call very reasonable and factual posts 'the official government line' because its the only way they an attack the person, having no facts or evidence themselves.

So the claim falls limp.

I agree that much of what can be seen on RT Russian TV is sort of a televisual Pravda remnant from the Cold War era and Russia's freedom of the Press is far from achieved. It is not because Russian propaganda calls out American propaganda for what it is, that they aren't doing so for their own Cointelpro purposes! However, this also doesn't mean that they don't at times dig in deeper to denounce things which are done against the interests of American citizens by Government agencies or worse, the Secret Government. It isn't because the truth is spoken by an unclean mouth that it is any less true. Regarding the Russians being envious of Hoover, they wrote the manual later revised by L. The 9/11 forum here contains more of them than I think any other forum I've seen online. Methinks someone out there really doesn't want people learning about the proverbial Inside Job.
