After the trips ,bumps and scrapes of the last decade it's time for Atlas to dream of electric sheep happy in retirement , to mark the occasion Boston Dynamics have released a highlights and bloopers video of Lieutenant Data's great great great great Grandad in action.

For almost a decade, Atlas has sparked our imagination, inspired the next generations of roboticists, and leapt over technical barriers in the field. Now it’s time for our hydraulic Atlas robot to kick back and relax. Take a look back at everything we’ve accomplished with the Atlas platform to date.

It is probably an illusion, but it looked liked it grabbed it's unit in pain a few times when it fell...especially the first time.

Could make sense. I think it is initially trained on human data and learns how to keep balance effectively on it's own. It would eliminate this physical reaction to pain after some updates...

I really enjoyed seeing the development going from Atlas clowning around to becoming a parkour specialist.

A smart piece of technology and a demonstrator of what is to come.
