There is a certain naivety here, in that you believe everything coming out of Russia.

They have had their own nutty conspiracy theories for ages. Some had elements of truth but were often stretched into fantasy.

Often these stories made you believe the governments knew more and were more advanced than they let on, but to the superhero surreal status.

And of course “eyewitness” testimony and interviews were a typical angle.
